Prompt: Sakura tells Sasuke he is not meant to be Hokage

A/N: Hello, here are some prompts that I've written on Tumblr. I am also open and highly encourage requests because it allows my brain to think. Hope you guys enjoy.

You Can't be the Hokage

As Sasuke walked through Konoha, he felt the night air become unsettled. The leaves trembled with uneasiness as the wind howled in desperation for peace. Sasuke knew the disturbance was caused by the impending battle between him and Naruto.

After the war, he and Naruto had drawn a truce for the hokage title temporarily. Kakashi claimed the sixth spot and appointed him and Naruto as advisers. It had been a system that worked for a short time. However, Naruto would never give up his dream. Sasuke could not abandon his resolve to change the village. As a result, Sasuke could see the battle coming like an avalanche roaring down a mountain.

Sasuke continued his walk down to the path that led to the gates of the village. Once he made the final turn down the nostalgic road, he found Sakura. She was waiting like she had done so many years before.

Apparently he wasn't the only one to sense the turmoil that was about to commence.

The expression he saw in Sakura's eyes was one he had hoped to never see again. She had the same look as she did when they had met in the land of iron. Her eyes expressed a regretful betrayal towards him but with intense determination.

"Sasuke-kun" she called out to him with uneasiness.

"Sakura" he responded as he stopped a couple of feet in front of her, "What are you doing here?"

Her eyebrows furrowed with concern as she replied, " I just knew you would be here and I wanted to talk to you."

The connection he had with Sakura never failed to surprise and confuse him at the same time. They could never hide anything from each other. They both could predict the other's movement without much effort at all. And Sasuke just knew he would not like whatever Sakura had to tell him.

"Sakura," he started as he approached her, "whatever you have to say will not change my mind. I can't let what my brother sacrificed go to waste. I have to change—"

"You can't be the Hokage." she interrupted him, "That title does not belong to you."

Sasuke closed the distance between the two of them. As he looked down at her, he could no longer see hesitation in her eyes.

"That decision is between Naruto and I." he explained to her. Sakura should have known she could not interfere with their rivalry. It had become clear when they were genin and both him and Naruto almost killed her with their most powerful attacks.

"And what will you do when you lose?" she asked him. Sasuke bristled at the word 'when' instead of if. "Will you trust Naruto as the Hokage? she continued, "Or will you disregard him and everyone else in order to implement your way?"

Sasuke scowled at her accusations. "You can't be the Hokage, Sasuke-kun." she repeated, " You have no idea what it means."

At this statement, Sasuke narrowed his eyes at her, "I know exactly what is means, Sakura." he began "I understand better than anyone what the hokages created, I am a product of the hatred they began. By Itachi's grave, I won't let Konoha fall under that hatred again."

Sakura broke eye contact as she reached for his hand. He let her entwine her fingers around his as she looked back at him with her shining green eyes.

"Sasuke-kun, I love you so much." she began. At this, Sasuke's eyes were drawn to the burn marks on her right arm. Sasuke did not treat her feelings for him lightly. Her love for him had saved him multiple times. It had even protected him against her own hand. He couldn't help but squeeze her hand in response. A gesture indicating how grateful he was to her.

"I just don't trust you as the Hokage." she finished.

A heavy silence surrounded them after her statement. Sasuke admitted to himself that a part of him was hurt by her loyalty to Naruto. He always thought of her as his pillar. She was someone who needed him. But, he realized with grimace, she didn't need him to be Hokage.

Sasuke was not sure how long he stared into Sakura's powerful green eyes before he responded, "I have to end this hate Sakura. I have to be the Hokage. I can't allow what happened to my clan to ever happen again. Nothing you will say can change that."

End.

A/N What'd you guys think? This was inspired by my favorite SasuSaku fanart. I like the idea of Sakura defending Naruto's claim as the Hokage. She's believed in his dream since they were this in no way NaruSaku. A lot of people say Sakura never disagrees with Sasuke and just follows everything he says, but that is not true! She's fought with him over his safety, his choice to leave the village, and his mistreatment to Naruto's friendship. I just think this would be another disagreement between the two of them.
