The warmth of the bed sucked Donatello in, the sheets stroking his skin and the pillows whispering for him to go back to sleep. Streams of the morning sun poked through the shutters and danced across his face, kissing him good morning.
The mutant snuggled his head into the pillow to escape the light and sighed. His body felt like it was floating on a cloud, his muscles completely relaxed and his mind not weighed down by a care in the world.
Donatello felt the bed shift slightly and he cracked open an eye and peered out, welcoming the morning like a newborn. His blurred eyesight focused on the figure of April as she sat on the bed, her bare back to him. Her red hair, long from the years that had flown by, flowed down her back like a ginger waterfall.
The mutant felt himself smile in content, loving how the sun outlined the porcelain of her skin as it hugged her figure, the light making her angelic. It was that sight that made his mornings so beautiful. Seeing her so vulnerable like that, her body only guarded by the sheets and his arms and only seen by his eyes and the prying sight of the morning light.
Donatello leaned over and slid his hands onto her hips and waist, loving the warmth her skin gave off. He closed his eyes and nuzzled his face into her back, loving how his face perfectly fit there, like she had been made for him.
April crossed her arm over to the other and held it as though to shield her bare chest. Donatello smiled. He could sense the shy smile on her lips and the blush that kissed her cheeks.
He glanced at the clock on the bedside table. It wasn't horribly early...but too early for his taste. Donatello wrapped his arms around April and tugged her back to him, holding her close as he snuggled into her.
April let out a light chuckle as Donatello held her to his body. He loved how her warmth tickled his skin and made his body feel like jell-o. The blankets had been kicked off the night before, leaving only the sheets.
Their skin stuck to the material from the summer heat that would only worsen throughout the day. The air conditioning clicked on and the fan above them spun, breathing cool air onto them.
Donatello knew they both had things to do. She had work, he had inventions to build...but that could wait. What was important was that he had her right then and there. The rest of the world could wait.
He tugged the thin blanket over them and wrapped her closer to his body as though the material were a cocoon that protected them from the continuing of time. Donnie traced kisses across her shoulders and down her neck, sighing happily, loving how he could pass the time with the woman he loved tangled in the protection of the sheets.
