A/N This was a writing assignment for English. We had to write a fable, so I based mine off of House. It's based loosely off of Last Resort. I changed the ending slightly for fanfic. It's kind of Chirteen if you squint.
One night, Remy the Echidna came back late to the cave she shared with her friend, Robert the Wombat. "Where have you been?" Robert asked.
"Out," was her short reply.
"Remy, why do you do things like this?" Robert asked. He knew that Remy liked to go out exploring late at night. It was dangerous, and there were lots of predators.
"Because, it's fun." Robert gave her a look that said he wasn't satisfied with her answer. "For the past ten generations, my family has died at the same age, always very young. I've almost reached that age, and I want to have fun."
"Remy, please, I worry about you," he told her, begging.
"Well, don't," she snapped, getting angry. With that, she stormed out of the cave.
A few days later, Remy was out gathering food. Suddenly, she saw a dingo in the distance. She realized she was in danger, and started to run away. Eric the Dingo saw her, and started chasing her.
Just when she thought all hope was lost, Robert came up behind Eric and beat him to death with a Canadian. He then turned to Remy, who was crying. She looked up at him. "I don't want to die," she admitted.
"I know," he told her, leading her back to the cave.
