I really fancied doing something about Sakura Hime: The Legend Of Princess Sakura, so here it is! My favourite couple is Kohaku and Hayate. 3

It was a full moon. Hayate had returned to human form, and he was spending some quality time with dear Kohaku. Unfortunately for him Kohaku was asleep. Exhausted by all the training she had been doing, she had fallen asleep at seven o'clock. Hayate knew he would be back to frog form soon, and he wanted to wake her up in order to woo her, but staring at her innocent sleeping face, he couldn't bring himself to wake her. He endured this as long as he could. Which turned out to be about five seconds.

"What is it, Hayate...?" Kohaku murmured, still half-asleep. "Oh! You're back in human form!" She was instantly awake.

"I want a kiss."
"What?! I will do nothing of the sort!"

"Kohaku, it's been a long time! Who could hold himself back in my situation?"

"I will not allow it!"
"Please?" Hayate persisted.

"Okay, then. If you insist..." Kohaku said reluctantly. Hayate leaned in for a kiss, and Kohaku pushed a Little Birdy into his face.

She roared with laughter between coughs, batting at the smoke. Hayate scowled, nursing his sooty face and his injured pride.

Kohaku... is an incredible ninja... Hayate couldn't help thinking.

Byakuya peeked her head around the door. "Kohaku, Hayate, supper is rea- Er, what is going on here...?"

Kohaku and Hayate jumped away from each other, pretending nothing had happened.

"And WHAT is all this smoke?" Byakuya continued, and paused to pick up the smoke bomb lying on the ground. "Ah, this explains it."

Byakuya confiscated the Little Birdy. She's like a teacher, really, thought Kohaku.

"You need this for SERIOUS battles," scolded the old priestess, before leaving the room.

The second she was out of earshot, Hayate and Kohaku burst out laughing. Hayate thought it would be nice if they were more than childhood friends, but right now, it was fine for them just to enjoy each other's company.

Kohaku was the reason why Hayate had become a frog in the first place, what with her jutsu. But Hayate didn't bear a grudge.

If it's for Kohaku, Hayate thought contentedly, I can do anything.
