"You are...Vanya Rhomas?" Asks the receptionist at the desk looking from the computer to me. I was recently offered a job here at Shinra as one of the 2nd Class soldiers to protect Midgar and other locations. I hadn't thought I'd ever be accepted, I sent in the application, did a combat test for the officials and was notified a week later!
I had been trained to use a sword and bow by my father when I was thirteen. I trained everyday, and eventually it paid off, shown as of now.
"Alright you are going to floor 49. Angeal is your mentor, and Zack Fair is your new partner." My heart skipped a beat.
"Partner?"
"Yes, you will be going on missions with him."
"Oh...I didn't know I had a partner..."I mumble grabbing my ID and walking to the elevators on top of the stairs. I thought I would be working independently, which was what I preferred.
I pressed the button 49. It glowedorange and the door closed. I could feel myself going up multiple levels of the tall building, anxious to meet my co-workers. I could feel my hands starting to sweat causing me to rub my palms on the front of my pants. I calm myself by breathing in and out slowly.
"I can do this..." I keep saying to myself.
The doors open revealing a grey tinted room with a desk in the front with a computer. There's a room with multiple lockers and mailboxs in it, and a glass wall with two men inside, one with a electronic headset and the other watching him. The man at the desk gets my attention.
"How may I help you?"
"Hi I am Vanya, the new recruit." I smile shaking his hand from the other side.
"Ah, yes, we've been expecting you. I'm Director Lazard. Come, let's go to Angeal and introduce you to him." He gets up from his seat and walks over to the glass door leading to the room with the two men I had observedearlier. The man watching the soldier turns around and looks towards me and Lazard.
"Angeal this is Vanya your new trainee. Vanya, Angeal your mentor." He says. I shake his hand.
"Vanya, nice to have you here."
"Thanks I am glad to be here." He turns around.
"Zack!"
The man with the headset stops moving and takes it off, revealing his beautiful blue eyes, black spikey raven hair and nice facial figures.
"Come meet your new partner."
"Partner?! Oh boy!" He smiles putting the device down and running towards the three of us he stops and looks at all of us, a frown appears on his face.
"Where is he?"
Lazard chuckles.
"Sheis right here." He smiles gesturing to me. Zack's jaw drops.
"A GIRL?!"
My face turns red. "Hi." I say shyly waving.
"Wow this is- wow. This is fantastic." He smiles grabbing my hand and shaking it.
"Zack Fair, nice to meet you."
"Vanya Rhomas." I smile.
I could already tell this was going to be one hell of an adventure.
