My first fanfiction for the Tango Pair community that is dying out. I'd eternally appreciate it if you review, and tell me how to improve it! Though maybe I should start off by lengthening it…

Atobe Keigo.

It almost seems like every time I glance over at him, he seems to have miraculously perfected another move, defeated another opponent, or yet again led his team to another victory. He's a volatile, uncontainable force of nature that seems to be eternally moving, eternally improving, and eternally climbing the slippery, endless ladder of victory.

Eternally lengthening the distance between us.

He has always been focused on defeating that one person, Tezuka Kunimitsu. He is a single-minded entity that will not stop until he gets what he wants, even if it means driving himself to his limits and back.

I wonder to myself, if he has ever learned how to stop in his mad rush forward. Stop and turn back to consider the one that has followed him doggedly from the beginning.

But it is then, I realise, that it doesn't matter if he hasn't once turned around to face me in his quest for victory. It is enough to know that, should he ever slip, I will be the one waiting at the bottom of that ladder to catch him.

After all, God knows even angels fall.
