The night was reaching a close and the first signs of dawn light were growing brighter upon us. The scarlet shades provided a glowing warmth to accompany the taps of heeled shoes on the wooden floor we danced on. Two taps forward, two taps backward. Side tap, then in the back, twirl and clap, start again. The hypnotizing yet soothing sound of the many dancers in unison to the upbeat song was uninterrupted by the man who slid in through the doors of our dance hall. He stepped his way, quickly and confidently across the floor until I felt a sudden breath behind me. I let out a sharp gasp, startled but not enough so to ruin the perfect harmony of us dancers as one. "Where did you come from?" I asked, but as I swirled around to face the man he was gone. "Where...did you go…" I continued following the beats and taps around me until another clap joined my own. "Where did I come from?" The man asked. Seeing his face, it seemed familiar. The mysterious man from my dreams, just as elusive and handsome as ever. He smiled, and before I could tell what was happening his lips were pressed against mine. I know this man, but how? His smell, this taste, it's all too familiar. With his body against mine, the heat on my cheeks, I connected the puzzle pieces that lead my here. Three words made his name. I pulled away from him although my body longed for more and looked deep into his eyes. Three words. "Cotton Eyed Joe."
