Thanks to my beta, Isabella, with whom I share this passion. English is not our first language, so be kind.

Her hand closed around the smooth wood as Buffy turned to get a glimpse of the vampire she had seen lurking in the darkness. She only felt him close behind her at the last possible moment and sidestepped to avoid the blade that was arching towards her head. She brought up her stake in a vicious circle that caught the vampire off guard as it hit his arm. He was surprised by the cruelty of Buffy's aggression, but recovered rapidly and lunged at her yet again.

The force of the attack was eventually starting to wear him down; it was becoming more and more difficult for him to keep his footing. Suddenly he staggered and the slayer had the opening she had been waiting for.

She smiled, "you have pleased me long enough," informed him Buffy. A shout escaped the vampire's lips as the stake connected with his heart, then silence as dust sprinkled to the ground.

"Hi, Grandma!" the words came from Spike, accompanied by a chuckle.

"What?" Buffy turned around.

"A beautiful blonde, independent, skilful at hostility. Amusing, clever and ingenious? And those words? That's gotta be Darla."

"I'm not your Grandma! And neither was Darla."

"She was, actually. Drusilla was never capable of longer rational actions, much less carrying out a siring. She did create several vampires, but not purposely, it just happened. And for certain she wasn't able to carry out instructing them. She wanted me, so Angelus made me for her. We let her and everyone else believe it was Dru.

That's how Sire wanted it, a present for her. None of that matters NOW…"

Buffy straightened herself up, "Really? It was him?"

Spike smiled regretfully, "you still love him, don't you?"

Buffy pulled up one corner of her mouth and shrugged, "yes…are you angry now?"

"No. I love him too."

"You DO?"

"He was the best father and friend I ever had, in a weird sorta way."

"You don't usually think about him that way?"

"Sometimes…but maybe I should."

"Yeah, maybe you should."

The End.
