Cry
Silently Ashley crept along the hallway towards her mothers room. Like so many nights before her mom was crying. She was determined to help her and make her better. She didn't like it when people cried. It made her sad too. Ashley peeped around the corner and saw her mother curled up on the bed with her back to her. She climbed onto the bed and put her head on her mothers shoulder. Startled but not shocked Helen tried to cover her mouth to stop the sound of her dry sobs. Her body still shook and she rolled over to see her daughter.
"What's wrong Mommy?" Ashley asked her eyes also tearing up.
"Nothings wrong hun, just sometimes people need to cry."
"Here" she said leaning over to her mother "I kiss it better. Is that all right?"
"Yes my love," she said and again breaking out into tears.
"No! What have I done mommy? Your crying more." tears now freely flowed down the blonds cheeks.
"Its not you. Its just I miss some one. Someone I use to love very much." Helen said remembering old times.
"But I love you very much mommy!" exclaimed Ashley. And more quietly she added "Boys are dumb and you get better than John. We all love you here at the sanctuary very very much. So please do cry mommy. It makes me very sad."
"Your right Ashley. What's done is done. I love you very much too you know" Helen said touching Ashleys nose.
"Can I sleep with you mommy? Henrys snoring and I can hear him all the way in my room." she told.
"Oh silly. Yes you can sleep with me. Tomorrow I will tell Henry not to sleep so loud ok hun?"
"Yes mommy."
