Why
The gunshots rang out.
"NO!" the team cried out.
Prentiss ran toward the gunfire, but it was too late. Aaron Hotchner, their boss, mentor, and friend was dead.
"You bitch," Prentiss growled.
Strauss had sent the team into a dangerous situation with an unsub who hated law enforcement.
"Emily," Rossi said , trying to comfort her, "there's nothing anyone could've done."
It was a crock of bull, he knew that. But he was still trying to wipe his own eyes. The man lost his best friend! She looked at Reid, who was bawling his eyes out. Great. Another person Reid lost. Thanks a lot Strauss, Emily thought.
Two weeks later, the team was sitting outside of Strauss's office.
"You have my deepest condolences," Strauss said in a voice that told otherwise.
"Yeah, sure," Prentiss bit angrily, "because if it wasn't for you, he'd still be alive."
" Emily, " Reid said.
"Excuse me?" Strauss asked.
"You sent him into that situation KNOWING what kind of unsub we were dealing with. Because you wanted him gone at any cost."
" Aaron Hotchner was a great asset-"
"Don't start that bull with me, Erin," Rossi continued, " you had an agenda and Hotch stood in the way. "
"Did you know?" Prentiss asked, " did you know he was going to be killed? Or were you just waiting for the right time? "
Everyone stood in silence. Finally, Reid asked in a feeble voice, "Why?"
" You know what? I'm outta here! " She threw her gun and badge on the table and ran out crying.
The rest of the team followed suit and tried to comfort Prentiss. They left Erin Strauss to sleep with what she has done, and she would have to answer to the director for this.
Because Aaron Hotchner was gone and no one could explain why.
