One-shot. Mikan sighed for the umpteenth time that day. It has been three weeks since Natsume Hyuuga became her property, hers and hers alone. But every relationship has its troubles; it appears that Natsume's manga addiction is ruining their relationship.
She paced back and forth in her room. Apparently, Natsume had invited her to a date at central town. Manga shopping, for Mikan that is. She was so deep in thought to realize the door open.
"Oi, Mikan…" His voice, cold and harsh. He stopped to sit at the foot of her bed and continued reading his manga.
"Are we going or not?" She grabbed the manga and looked harshly at Natsume. "Would you stop reading that stupid comic book—"
"—it's called a manga."
"Whatever. I thought you wanted to be my boyfriend. But now you are, why is it that you seem so…" She threw the manga back. "Far away."
"But I'm right next to you."
Mikan groaned in frustration. "You could at least act a bit happy!"
"Is that what you want?"
"No." She said meekly. "I want to be more interesting than that manga you're holding for at least a week." She threw her hands up in the air. "Pay attention to me!"
"Iam paying attention to you." He said matter-of-factly. "It was hard not to since you sighed every six minutes."
"Really now? Trying not to pay attention to me is as bad as actually doing it."
"Are you angry?" He sighed and turned at Mikan. "I know you are."
"Iam not." She said truthfully. "I just didn't expect regretting to be your girlfriend so quickly."
"Mikan…" he said quietly, in a voice far meeker than any she had ever heard come from him.
"Don't Mikan, Mikan me." She snapped. "You can go to your room and snuggle closely to your manga collection and tell them how much you love them…"
"Are you jealous of my manga?" He smirked.
Mikan rolled her eyes. "No. You just don't… notice me that much."
"On the contrary…" He placed his hands in his pockets. "I have to learn not noticing you or else I wouldn't get anything done."
A gasp. Mikan felt that she was blushing, not that she cared. Natsume said it like he was shooing his fan girls away, the usual cold and harsh tone. But it was something more for her. It was a statement of his love for her.
There was silence.
Mikan sighed in relief as she closed the distance between them and hugged him in the waist.
Natsume's hands hung in the air in defeat. "Come on! What the hell did I…?" He began. But she cut him off by placing her hand on his mouth.
"Let's get to the point." She growled. "I, your girlfriend, should always come first!"
"But you do…" He chuckled. Then laughter was heard, it wasn't too loud, yet it wasn't too silent.
"What's so funny?"
"You, the girl who can see through me, cannot see the fact that you are the most important thing in my life."
Mikan raised a brow. "More important than being a special star?"
"Yes. More important than my alice itself, too."
As Natsume leaned to kiss Mikan, she quickly avoided it.
"As a punishment, I'm letting you read your manga or make love with it for all I care, but you are notgetting anything from me."
Mikan and Natsume learned something important that day.
Natsume learned that he shouldn't ignore Mikan.
Mikan learned that Natsume doesn't take no for an answer. Mikan got kissed over and over again.
Somewhere, Someplace. A mangaka was fleeing the country.
