this is a story about what would have happened if Steve got rescued before Tony was even born and the influence that that would have had on both of their lives this story will be a Stony story, but with a slow build

1. prologue

So, here is the start for my new multi-chapter story. I want to say a big thank you to my beta Zylstra who is simply amazing and wonderful!

prologue

After Captain America crashed Howard Stark put up a fund to find the captain. He put his top 100 people on a 24/7 search, he put a big part of his savings to keep the fund running, approached al his big investors for donations and every second of spare time he got, he himself went along with the search party.

It took five years to find him. Five years in which both Peggy Carter and Howard Stark got married – not to each other mind you, but they still both found somebody. Five years in which the war ended and people learned to relax, not anxiously waiting for the next war. Five years in which Captain America became a national hero, someone who died for the greater good. Five years in which Steve Rogers was slowly forgotten. Five years in which nobody mourned for James 'Bucky' Barnes. Five years in which Steve 'Captain America' Rogers was frozen, not only in ice, but in time as well.

This is the story what happened after these five years, when Howard Starks fund paid off and Captain America was found, looking exactly like he had the day he went missing, but most of all looking alive.

This is not a story about a great hero, though that is what most people will think. This is the story of one mostly ordinary man who will make a change in the lives of all those around him, by simply being himself.

This is a story telling what could have been, but got lost in time.
