"Ugh! What the heck?" Lovino pouted and rubbed the back of his head to find yet another slobbery spit ball stuck in his hair.

"Stop it Julie!" Lovino turned around and yelled at the silver haired girl behind him.

Julie responded with nothing more than a scrunched up face with her tongue sticking out.

"Ms. Dunn! Julie keeps spitting paper at me!" Lovino whined and Julie's face suddenly went shameful when the teacher gave her a glare.

"How many times have I told you to stop bothering Lovino?" the woman scolded as Julie hung her head. "I think you deserve and inside recess don't you think, Ms. Beilschmidt?"

"Yes ma'am," she sighed and pouted with her head in her hands.

When the teacher turned around to go back to her desk, Julie insisted on pestering Lovino yet again.

"Psst! Hey Lovi! Lovey-boy!" she whispered harshly.

"My name is just Lovino. Now stop talking to me, or I'll tell on you again," he warned.

"I just want to give you something when you leave for recess," she said and Lovino turned around.

"What is it? Another spit ball?" he huffed and rolled his eyes.

She just giggled and shook her head with an evil little smirk. "Much better than that! But we have to be alone for me to give it to you, so try to be last in line."

It wasn't long before the bell rang for recess and the young first graders were lining up to go out to the playground.

Lovino tried his best to be last in line, just to see what Julie wanted to give him. It was probably something dumb and terribly mean. But if it was, then Lovino decided he could always just tell the teacher again.

The teacher and children started to leave, and soon enough Lovino was the only other kid in the classroom, along with Julie.

"So what stupid thing did you want to give me?" Lovino hissed and crossed his arms.

Julie just puffed out her chest and leaned in close enough for their lips to touch in a small peck.

Lovino's face went cherry red and he backed up against the classroom wall. "What in the heck was that for?" he nearly shouted.

"I like you Lovey-boy, I like you a lot. And I decided that you're going to be my boyfriend!" she smiled wickedly as her eyes flashed an even brighter ruby red than usual.

"No! I- I don't wanna be your boyfriend!" he said with panic.

"Well too bad! I already decided for you," she smirked.

"But that's not fair! And- and I'm pretty sure girlfriends and boyfriends don't spit paper at each other," he added.

"Oh I was just playing a game. It's over now though. I won by the way," she giggled and tried to lean her lips close to his again.

"No!" he shouted and scooted to the side.

"I know you like me Lovey-boy. A girl can just tell. It's like- the rules of being a girl. All girls can tell when a boy likes her," she said with an obvious sense of knowledge.

"R- Really?" he asked cautiously.

"Well duh!" she rolled her eyes. But at that moment the teacher opened the door of the classroom.

"Lovino Vargas! What are you doing in here? You're supposed to be on the playground. And Julie, you know inside recess means head down on the desk. No talking," she said and took Lovino's hand to lead him outside into the empty hallway.

"Ms. Dunn... don't punish her too hard," Lovino said with a heavy sigh.

Ms. Dunn gave him a mildly surprised look and then chuckled. "Don't you worry about her, she'll be fine."

At that moment Julie's white little head leaned out of the classroom doorway and yelled down the hall. "Bye boyfriend! I'll see you after recess!" she giggled and shut the classroom door with a loud slam.
