Disclaimer: I can not draw a circle, therefore, I did obviously not create Naruto.
He couldn't remember ever running so fast in his life.
Even while running for it.
And in a way, he was right now.
Because he was his life.
And it was hisbirthday.
For only 2 more hours.
So he was sprinting.
He didn't care that he was out of breath.
He didn't care that it was pretty much impossible.
He was going to get there before it turned 12:00.
Because he needed to.
Because he loved him.
So he ran faster.
He looked out the window.
He was tired.
He was lonely.
He was straining not to break down crying.
He was not doing a good job hiding it.
He needed him back.
He needed to be held.
He needed to be told he was loved.
Otherwise he was afraid it wouldn't be true.
Because he was barely ever there.
And he never seemed to be there when he wanted him to.
It was 11:59.
He had given up.
Kakashi decided to stop looking at his watch.
It was too painful to see the minutes ticking by.
To almost hear the seconds laughing as they flew away.
He knew he wasn't going to make it.
But he was damn well going to try.
He could see the gates.
He stopped to let the guards check him in, and looked at his watch.
It was 11:59.
His heart raced as he ran to Iruka's house.
The light was still on.
He had waited.
Kakashi was at the door when he suddenly remembered something.
Something that made his blood run cold.
His watch was an hour early.
Iruka waited for another 30 minutes.
His birthday had passed.
He had missed it.
He hadn't been there.
Iruka looked out the window.
He wasn't there.
He sat on the couch and stared into space for another half an hour.
At 1:00 he couldn't take it.
The first tear fell.
He grabbed his jacket and put it over his clothes.
He needed to leave.
Kakashi wanted to scream.
He wanted to cry.
He wanted to beat the life out of himself.
All this time he thought it was ok.
He was going to make it.
Poor Iruka.
He hoped he had already gone to bed.
That he had an amazing day and didn't wait for him.
So he was ready to commit suicide when he saw him step out of the apartment.
Tears running down his face.
Iruka looked up and wanted to die.
Kakashi was standing there looking at him.
With so much pity in his eyes Iruka felt like a little kid again.
He was fine dammit!
He didn't need people worrying over him!
He could handle it!
He knew this stuff was bound to happen.
Kakashi had even told him that stuff like this would happen.
And Iruka just smiled and said he knew.
So this was not a time to be breaking down.
Maybe Kakashi needed him more then he needed Kakashi right now.
"A-are you hurt?" Iruka asked, voice shaky, looking over Kakashi quickly to look for any signs of blood.
"Not nearly as bad as you," Kakashi said, grabbing Iruka's arm and pulling him into his chest.
As he cried intohis shirt.
I love this. It makes me smile. Thanks for reading.
