The world was quiet. All of the streets; completely silent. There weren't any birds chirping, or dogs barking. It was nice.

Uzumaki Naruto was taking a walk in this silence, his blonde hair blowing lightly in the breeze. He closed his eyes for a brief moment and basked in the noise-free environment that he called home. A mild sigh escaped his lips as he stared forward at the many houses along the street. He knew that soon he would have to be heading back to his own house, but for the moment he just wanted to breathe it all in.

A squirrel ran across the street beside him and stopped at his feet. It sniffed him for a moment before running away.

Of course, he thought. Why should it be any different than the people in this world?

"Naruto!" he heard someone yell. It was his guardian, Iruka. As much as he loved Iruka, he did not want to answer to him at this moment in time.

"Naruto, where have you been? I've been looking all over for you!" Iruka scolded.

"Sorry," Naruto murmured.

Iruka sighed and grabbed Naruto's shoulders gently.

"I've been really worried. Let's go home."

He began to walk off towards the house that they shared, and Naruto followed closely behind, wishing for nothing more than to have been left alone in his lovely silence.

Wow. I've surprised myself with this one. I'm actually trying to make a multiple-chaptered story. Scary, innit?

Yeah, this is merely the prolouge, which is why it's so short. Any critique? Yes, critique would be nice...
