This is sort of like the prologue to my story… But I need some help! What should the 5 things be? You'll understand what I mean after you read. Ideas are greatly appreciated!

THE LIST

"What's wrong, Bella?" Edward asked, his silky voice filled with concern.

I quickly assured him I was fine. And I was; or so I told myself. But something had been pressing on my mind lately. You see, graduation was fast approaching. And after that, despite my protests, I was getting married. And after that…

After that I wouldn't be human anymore. Life as I knew it would change drastically. I kept reminding myself that this was the life I had chosen-the life I really wanted. I was thrilled.

But with the happiness came another feeling. An annoying, nagging felling that I couldn't seem to shake. It was sadness; an acute sense of loss.

There was no reason for me to remain a human. I certainly didn't want to. All I wanted in life was Edward.

And yet… An overwhelming sense of lost would occasionally overcome me. I suppose it was normal, considering I was ending the only life I'd ever known.

Normal or not, the feeling was extremely irksome.

My worst nightmare was that Edward would guess my thoughts. True, he couldn't read my mind, which gave me a bit of an advantage. But I've often been told that my face is like an open book, and Edward is an expert at reading it. When he looked me in the eyes, who knew what he saw?

"Bella, I think I know what this is about," Edward said in a low, deep voice. He sighed quietly, then continued. "It's about you… changing."

It wasn't a question, but I felt compelled to answer.

"No, no, I'm fine! I'm just…still getting used to the idea. I'm saying goodbye to being human," I explained.

Then I narrowed my eyes and glared at Edward. "But I'm not changing my mind, so don't even try to talk me out of it."

Edward's smile was tinged with sadness.

"I've already tried. But now, instead, I propose a compromise." He paused before continuing. "You will make a list of 5 so-called human things you want to experience before you change. I'll do everything in my power to make sure we do it all."

I raised my eyebrows.

"You've put quite a bit of thought into this, I see."

Edward rolled his eyes but didn't smile. He was serious.

"Oh, whoa. You're serious," I said.

"Yes, Bella, I am," he said with exasperation. "So do you accept my proposition?"

I sat in silence as I deliberated. As far as I could tell, there was no harm in agreeing. And it would make both of us happy- I would get a chance to say goodbye to being human, and Edward would be assured that I wasn't missing out on any important human experiences. I decided I'd go along with it-on one condition.

"Fine. I'll make the list, and we can try to do everything on it. As long as it doesn't delay my… transformation."

Edward considered thoughtfully. Then he smiled my favorite crooked smile and said, "So basically, that gives us a month."

I nodded. "That's the idea."

Edward gave a decisive nod and said with mock seriousness, "The clock starts…now."
