A/N: Hello! So I'm really excited! This is my first fanction EVER. Reviews are greatly appreciated. )
I (obviously) do not own Life With Derek, thought I truly wish I did.
Goodnight
He was looking at her again, as she silently watched whatever was on television at that hour of night. At the moment, Derek didn't care. He was focused on watching her, through glances and subtle stares. His hand was covering his mouth, a finger stroking his stubble. She is far more interesting than television, even in her v-neck and baggy sweatpants, stretched out on the couch, head resting on her knuckle and elbow on the armrest. Of course, he loved it when she dolled up for a party or date; what guy, in his right mind wouldn't be floored at the sight of her in binding apparel and dark makeup? But he treasured that he could see her in relaxed attire, not even trying to be seductive, yet still being drop dead gorgeous. It confused him why she tried so hard to be perfect. She doesn't have to try.
She glanced in his direction and he quickly looked away. She kept her gaze, confused, but shrugged and continue watching...he could see what it was, now. Gossip Girl. He loathed this show. But she was obviously very into it. She sighed and shifted her legs closer to her torso. Man, if she only knew, he thought. Of course, Derek Venturi was never one for "emotions", no matter how strongly he felt for a girl, but he knew something was there. Something more than attraction.
He looked at the clock. 11:05. The family was definitely asleep by now. He looked at her again. She was still intently watching Gossip Girl. He was tired. Thank God the weekend was here. He yawned and lifted himself from his chair. He made his way towards the stairs.
"Goodnight, Derek," she said.
He stopped. Suddenly, he turned around and walked toward her. He didn't make a second thought. He just did it. He kissed her, his right hand clutching the back of her neck and his mind going blank from the feel of her lips. Wow, he thought. It felt like an eternity before he slowly pulled away and opened his eyes. Hers were still opening. His mouth was tingling.
"Goodnight, Casey".
He slowly lifted himself upright, feeling somewhat light-headed. He left her wide-eyed, staring into space. He made his way towards the stairs again, smirking on the way up to his room.
