Remembrance
'"Ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul, ash nazg thrakatulûk agh burzum- ish krimpatul"
There are many who would say that words cannot strike fear to someone's very heart, that words cannot cause dread at their mere utterance; yet how little they truly understand what power can lie behind them. There was once a time when people understood that words could really mean, when they once understood the words I have spoken and that they meant; but those times are gone, the once known meaning having faded from existence.
Yet, despites the blissful ignorance those of today show there are those that still remember all too well where those words came from, what they truly mean. Even after 3000 years we still remember that time of darkness when Sauron cast his shadow over all of Middle Earth, seeking to claim everything and everyone. To the many the age of Sauron's nightmare had become nothing more than a myth, a simple whisper of the past, while to some it is a memory forever engraved into our memory. Eventually the scars Sauron left on Middle Earth have faded, peace and prosperity once again returning to the world as the different races flourished, even if old alliances were forgotten.
And just as old alliances and Sauron passed from memory as did we, becoming nothing more than living legend, though it our case it is understandable. We chose to be forgotten, returning to the seclusion of our home and thus remaining for the passing years, content to be alone. Yet, even as we rebuild all that had been lost and our land nurtured into the dream it had once been we could never shake that sliver of fear that dwelled within our hearts. As much as we wanted to forget we stayed ever watchful, knowing it would only be a matter of time before the shadow once again stirred.
It chills me to the very core of myself to say that now, after 3000 years that which we feared had begun. Even here I can fill the unrest, the stirring shadows in the East, the omen that evil once again threatens to return to Middle Earth. All around us the Earth, the trees, even the wind speaks to us of the evil which is returning.
So comes an end to our seclusion, no longer can we hide from what we feared; once again we must seek the alliance of old friends to face what is coming. We must once again return to Middle Earth and make a stand, a stand to see that which we wished to stay forgotten has returned. The very thing which unless destroyed will once again bring the nightmare to Middle Earth; the One Ring has returned. '
