Bright Lights

By: the female apophis

Disclaimer: YES I OWN THEM! Okay, actually I don't, but I kinda needed to borrow them in order to write this story.

Rating: PG-13 at most.

Pairings: Sam and Jack (duh!)

Archive: Sure, just make sure you ask me first.

Summary: Maybe, you'll find something that's enough to keep you but if the bright lights don't receive you, you should turn yourself around and come on home.

Song: if you see one, then it's there.

Other stuff: yeah, it may be there. It's supposed to be there.

A/N: Inspired by the Matchbox Twenty song of the same name. It's how I know every shipper out there is hoping how Chimera ends. Hope you guys like it!

A very special thanks goes out to Mac8 and to JoLeigh because they betaed this for me. I love you both so much! A thousand thanks to you both!

She got out of town
On a railway New York bound
Took all except my name
Another alien on Broadway

There's some things in this world
You just can't change
Some things you can't see
Until it gets too late

***

When you run, sometimes you realize that the thing you were trying to find is the exact same thing that you were running from.

***

Baby, baby, baby
When all your love is gone
Who will save me
From all I'm up against out in this world
Maybe, maybe, maybe
You'll find something
That's enough to keep you
But if the bright lights don't receive you
You should turn yourself around
And come on home

She had turned to Peter, and said the words that he wanted to here.

"I'll go with you."

This was her last chance at having a normal life. Her last chance of having a family.

***

I got a hole in me now
I got a scar I can talk about
She keeps a picture of me
In her apartment in the city
Some things in this world
They don't make sense
Some things you don't need
Until they leave you
And they're things that you miss

***

Jack kept trying to get a hold of her, but there was no answer at her home phone, on her cell-phone, or on her pager.

He was starting to worry that maybe she had accepted Peter's invitation to go to New York with him.

He wanted her to come home.

Baby, baby, baby
When all your love is gone
Who will save me
From all I'm up against out in this world
Maybe, maybe, maybe
You'll find something
That's enough to keep you
But if the bright lights don't receive you
You should turn yourself around
And come on home

Suddenly she knew that something wasn't right with all of this. Peter wasn't whom she was supposed to grow old and gray with.

Jack was.

Let that city take you in
Let that city spit you out
Let that city take you down
For God's sake turn around

Baby, baby, baby
When all your love is gone
Who will save me
From all I'm up against out in this world
Maybe, maybe, maybe
You'll find something
That's enough to keep you
But if the bright lights don't receive you
Turn yourself around
And come on home

Come on home,

Baby, baby, baby, baby, come on home.

Yeah, come on home.

Yeah, come on home.

Yeah, come on home.

Baby, baby, baby, baby, come on home.

He heard his doorbell ring, and slowly got up to answer it.

She was standing there.

"Sam? What are you doing here?"

"I wanted to come home."

"Then why did you come here to my place?"

"I've realized that home is wherever you are."

So, what did you think? A bit on the short side, I know, but to tell you the truth, I write short stories better than long ones. If I write them too long, then I get bored and tired of them, and then you all suffer. Please review now.
