Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or "The Promise". Too bad, huh?

Author's note: This is my first songfic. I was watching Napoleon Dynamite and at the end I heard this song and I thought "Wow, Ron and Hermione". Anyhow, Love you all, please review.

The Promise

If you need a friend, don't look to a stranger

You know in the end, I'll always be there

But when you're in doubt, or when you're in danger

Take a look all around, I'll be there

"I'm sorry about what happened", said Hermione. Even if Ron was grieving at the loss of his brother, something that she herself would never know, every time she looked in his eyes, she felt it. "You'll always have me here." Without saying a word, he put his arms around her and Hermione returned the gesture. They just sat like that for what seemed like forever.

When your day is through, and so is your temper,
You know what to do, I'm gonna always be there.
Sometimes if I shout, it's not what's intended.
These words just come out, with no gripe to bear.

"Come on Hermione!" shouted Ron. He had been trying to reason with her using his Weasley logic. "Why go out with some one like Vicky. I don't see what you see in him."

"I have told you time and time again, I AM NOT GOING OUT WITH VIKTOR KRUM!" Upon saying this, nearly everyone in the Gryffindor common room was looking at the two, save a few first years who were cowering behind a table. Hermione seemed to have had all that she could handle with Ron. After her almost violent outburst, she ran up to her room in tears. Ron was left standing, a part of him wondering how great it would be if he hadn't met her. Another small part of him was wondering how awful it would be if he didn't have her now.

I'm sorry, but I'm just thinking of the right words to say

I know they don't sound the way I planned them to be

But is you'll wait around a little, I'll make you fall for me

I promise you, I promise you I will

He was thinking of her more than often this year. He had of course; always thought of her every minute of every day, but now it was more like every second. He couldn't stop. She was always there. He had tried to say what he meant to say, but it always ended up turning into a fight. You are the most wonderful, intelligent, beautiful girl I have ever meat "How's Vicky?" Ever since I saw you, I knew you were the one "Is he still hanging out with his fellow slimy gits?" You have always helped me out with everything and I have never once thanked you "Why do you always have to bug me about doing my homework?" I have always, and will always love you "You annoy the heck out of me."

Gotta tell you

Need to tell ya

Gotta ya

I've gotta tell ya

"Hermione, I don't know how to say this, but-" he took in a deep breath, but before he could say something, Hermione spoke up first. "I know." It was all she said, but it was enough. With that, the girl with the bushy brown hair and the answer to everything and the boy with the red hair and the temper to match, held hands and started to walk back to wherever they were going. They had their whole lives to tell each other what they had meant to say but only this moment to share what they had felt.

I'm sorry, but I'm just thinking of the right words to say.
I know they don't sound the way I planned them to be.
But if you'll wait around awhile, I'll make you fall for me,
I promise you, I promise you...
I'm sorry, but I'm just thinking of the right words to say.
I know they don't sound the way I planned them to be.
And if I had to walk the world, I'd make you fall for me,
I promise you, I promise you I will. I will. I will.
