Death game.
It's what it's called, and it's what it is. And he was trapped in it.
He looked around him. Panic, disorder, despair, he shook his head. He glanced a moving figure in the back of the crowd.
"Kirito!" he shouted.
He ran after the person that first showed him this world.
That was two years ago.
"Klein! What the hell are you doing!" shouted their tank, Manad.
Klein snapped out of it and clutched his sword. "Switch!"
He readied his skill and slashed the kobold right in the chest. The kobold burst into crystals and disappeared. What was he doing, spacing out in the middle of the dungeon, in the middle of a fight? Why was he remembering what happened two years ago?
"Klein, what was that?" Manad asked.
Klein sprouted a laugh. "I was just spacing out a lil'…"
"Just don't get killed out here!" Manad said.
Klein nodded.
"We're going further in," said their forward, "you coming? You look a bit tired."
Klein figured it was time to rest. Why else would he be reminiscing something so long ago?
"Yeah I'm done for today," he said. He sheathed his sword and reached for his teleportation crystal.
"Have you heard about the flash and that beater?"
Beater?
"Don't you mean Kirito?"
"Oh yeah, that guy, I heard they got married."
Klein dropped his crystal. His hands started shaking and his vision blurred.
"What…"
What was wrong with him?
"Klein? What's wrong?"
He picked up the crystal with shaky hands. Something was wrong with him. Married. The word itself scared him. Kirito got married? He thought. He must be jealous, the flash, Asuna was famous for her beauty after all. Klein laughed.
Unless.
