Kate was at the mall, Christmas shopping. She was with Lanie, but she's met a guy and left her. She was browsing at the winter coats; she needed a new one when suddenly she heard breaths. There was no one around but then she saw a little girl sitting on the coats crying. Kate bent down and looked at the little girl. "Hey baby girl, are you ok?" Kate asked in a sweet voice. She had lost her Mum once, she remembered being scared. Really scared. "I lost my Dad and you don't know me. You're a stranger. I'm not allowed to speak to strangers." The young girl answered. She was crying so Kate stroked her cheek. "I'm also a police officer so you can trust me baby girl. What's your name?" She asked, trying to sound as motherly as possible. "I'm Alexis. I'm 4. My Daddy is here, my Mum lives in Cali- Cali- Thania. What's your name?" Alexis asked. Kate smiled at the thought of a girl so young, caring enough to ask for her name. "I'm Kate. What does your Daddy look like?" Kate asked. Alexis looked at her. "You may know him as Richard Castle, the author. Your very pretty Kate." Alexis said with a smile. "Why thank you baby girl. So are you. Now let's go find your Dad." Kate held out her hand and Alexis took it. They had been walking for ages until Alexis let go of Kate's hand and yelled "DADDY!" Kate stood there, witnessing the moment as Richard Castle picked his little girl up, hugging her and saying her name over and over again. He walked towards Kate. "Thank you so much. You saved my life." He said smiling at her. She just smiled back. "I'm glad I found her before someone else had. She's a sweet kid." Kate said, just wanting to leave as it was awkward. He was still smiling at her. Kate's favourite author Richard Castle was smiling. "Hey, I didn't get your name?" He asked. "My names Kate and I know who you are Mr Castle, Alexis told me." She said, not wanting to sound like a fan. "You're an author, good choice." She smiled at him. She wanted to seem nice. Kate hoped he hadn't remembered her from any book signings. "Not just any author, a bestselling author, so what do you do?" He asked actually willing to listen and actually wanting to know. "Me? Oh, I'm a police officer who's off duty and about to head home. Glad you found Alexis. Nice meeting you." She said before turning. He grabbed her arm. "We were going out for lunch, did you wanna come?" Rick said hoping not to sound clingy. "I've got to get going." She said as they stood staring into each other's eyes. Suddenly out of nowhere, Esposito and Ryan came and grabbed an arm each of hers. They were both saying come on and she saw Lanie. "You guys are like annoying big brothers. I was having a conversation." She smiled at Rick and gave a little wave as they just dragged her away. She wondered if they would meet again. Little did she know it would turn into something big.
