Book 1: The Child of the Hurricane
Chapter 1: A Beneficial Walk
I was just strolling through the forest path to my village when a gleam out of the corner of my eye caught my attention. When I turned my head in the direct-what do you mean; I'm speaking random gibberish in your face? Oh, I see. You're having the information first, THEN story attitude, eh? Well, okay then.
My name is Denzon Olympus. I'm the hero of this epic tale is will tell you of. My best friends are Niata Kane and Trek Celestial. Niata is an archer with Aquatic arrows, who's always trying to keep me from having some fun. Trek is a knight with a strange electric sword. He's a bit mysterious, but deep down inside, he's a big mutton (in my hometown, muttons are like living teddy bears.) Me? I'm a super-awesome WARRIOR with a shiny copper blade. I know it's puny, but I get upgrades to it once I prove myself worthy to be called an Olympus. You see, my family clan has this odd tradition where you have to duel a mythological beast: a dragon. My father strongly believes that only the strongest of humans can dwell the Earth, so he goes off and lures the most powerful dragons to duel with our clan's children. I'm going to deem myself worthy tomorrow. Can we get on with the story now?
Thank you! Now where was I? Oh, that!
Okay, so I turned my head in the direction of the VERY addicting gleam to my right. Hmmm…what's that? I walked over to the bushes where the great shine came from. I rustled in them a little bit, and saw only the hilt of a blade. What was this? A blade with only the hilt? Strange. I peek a bit closer to the hilt. My eyes start to squint. As I squint, the blade of the hilt starts to become visible. Before long, I see an oddly-forged blade with a stream of spirits flowing through it. Whoa! Cool! I wonder if I can pick it up…I make a grab for it, and odd enough, the blade feels all but too real.
"How is it…?" I wonder.
"What you looking at there?" a voice asks me from behind.
I spin around to find Niata and Trek staring at me.
"Hey guys! Look what I found." I tell them as I pick up the hilt of the surprisingly light blade.
"Nice hilt, Denzon. Now, let's get back to the village so you can rest up for the Right of Passage initiation tomorrow." Niata tells me as she trudges off, expecting me to follow.
What is she DOING! Can't she see the sword?
"Wait, wait, and wait! Niata, are you saying you don't see the blade?" I question her. "What BLADE, Denzon? The only thing you're carrying is the HILT of a blade." she replies sternly.
"But it is right-" I begin to say, but get an idea and stop myself. Maybe, just maybe, if I use the blade in my Right of Passage initiation, they'll see what I'm talking about!
Trek sees the look on my face and asks, "What are you so pumped about?"
I decide not to let him in on the whole 'Phantom Blade' deal.
"Nothing, just the initiation tomorrow." I reply.
The look on his face tells me he's still suspicious.
I wonder what I should name the blade…wait, I've got it!
It'll be called…Mangeko!
