Silver Skies Weep
The ground trembles omniously beneath his feet, shaking him out of his fatigued daze, forcing himself to expend more precious energy just trying to stay afoot.
The Noah called Skin Boric still stands before him. Though horribly mangled by their battle, remains stubbornly unwilling to give up its tenacious hold on life. Its mere existance threatens everything that he values, his mission and honor, and some things that he didn't even know he cared about. Like friends.
Che. This is a fine time to be
getting sentimental. Focus. You only have one chance left to stop
him.
The monster roars and unleashes
its attack. The ball of brilliant light expands inorexably,
obliterating everything in its path. It drives a roiling cloud of
superheated air before it, vaporizing the snow the combatants stand
in, making the scene shimmer wildly. Yet, the boy stands firm,
holding twin swords ready in the guard position, body tensed for the
impact. For he knows that he's the only thing between the blast and
the exit. The last one to hold the fort so that the others might go
on.
The shockwave hits him, forcibly shoving him backwards. His crossed blades melt, sending flecks of white hot metal sizzling against bare, bruised and lacerated skin.
The beast roars, disfigured face bared in a horrible grimace. For an instant, his world is engulfed in briliant white light. The last thing he sees is his sword shattering into a million burning fragments.
A maniacal cackling emanates from the beast as it stares at the broken body before him, right hand still clutching the hilt of a broken sword. "I did it. I destroyed him..." In its evil glee, it does not notice the dancing spots of pure green light beginning to form beneath its feet.
"Mugen. Consume." The words are barely a whisper, murmured through lips which are painfully cracked and burned.
Lines connect the glowing green spots together, forming a network that seems to drain life almost imperceptably out of the beast's into itself. Still, the beast laughs with demonic pleasure.
Dancing motes reform into a shimering suggestion of a blade behind the beast. Only now does the Noah seem to notice, but it is too late. The swordsman musters his final strength to wield a fierce blade of shimering light. It slashes through the monster, cutting it from neck to knee, bringing it down.
The ground quakes, bleeding gouts of flame. The building behind him with the only exit from the room is ripped up like a sheet of paper by the tremors. As the swordsman sags to the ground, he steals a final look at the sky above, which appears strangely silver. He puts it down to being half-blinded from the blast.
"Damn. Komui's gonna be depressed." He mutters, grinning fiercely to himself, not noticing a warm wetness which trickles down his cheek. Silver skies weep leaden tears while the world around him crumbles.
Outside the ark, Miranda's eyes widen in shock and realization before she crumples to the ground, clutching her head.
"Somebody's time ... Vanished."
... END ...
