God he loves her…
He loves her from her blonde hair to her blue eyes, her intelligence to her skills, and her soul to her heart; he loves it all, but there's one more thing he loves more, and it's the only thing in the world that he could ever possibly love more; he loves the gift she gave him. Sometime's in the quiet moments of day he'll look, breathe in, and just believe, he'll believe that it's all real that it's not a dream, she's done that to him, she has him believing. She once said to him that HE was her hero, that HE wasn't alone, and that she believed in HIM. It was contagious after that.
His eyes fell to the near hallway, the soft padded footsteps rushing towards him, he may not see it yet, but he believes he will, so he crouches down to just the right height, he closes his eyes, as his lips curve slightly, and he counts down 3…2… and before he could get to 1, a small body jumps into his arms, almost pushing him back, he wraps his arms around the miniature figure and stands, he can hear a childish squeal erupt from the little body, so he squeezes tighter and finally opens his eyes.
The first sight that hit's him, is blue eyes, striking blue. Then he see's he sees the curly blonde her that falls in soft waves around her tiny shoulders and lastly he sees her smile, a wide grin, so very similar to his own.
"Daddy!" she squeals in his arms, he lets out a small chuckle and loosens his grip "Hi princess" he says softly.
"Mia Deaden Queen where have you run off to?" his smile stretches even wider, he place Mia on the ground holds onto her tiny hand and waits for the next voice to round the corner. Her steps are rushed, frantic almost panicky. She comes to an abrupt halt by the door, the blonde hair swaying, her glasses at the tip of her nose, she gives him a watery smile, before running over to him, her arms instantly banding around his neck, her head buried in the crook of his neck.
"Felicity" he whispers softly, lifting her a little of the ground, she pulls back and looks into his blue eyes, striking blue
"You're Home." she whispers back, he nods "I'm home." He presses his lips to hers, he hears Mia giggle behind them, before stretching her arms "Mama, Conner be home soon." She said barely making out the words; he chuckled and pressed his forehead against hers
"I missed you." He says it like it's his biggest secret
"I missed you too." She says it like it's her only promise
You may not be able to see the gift she gave him, but he does. She gave a home, a family, one filled with happiness, love, freedom, she gave him belief, so really he loves the gift she gave him, every single one of them, more than he loves her, because it means he loves her, AND their kids, AND that he loves his life, the one she gave him, her gift.
The door slams shut as blonde haired boy drops his backpack on the ground and runs towards him "Dad, you're home!" he smiles, he'll always smile from now on.
