In the early evening, a young girl waited behind a donut shop. She was dressed in a baggy blue t-shirt with a yellow star on the sleeve, and khaki shorts that were too big for her. She was waiting for closing time so she could sneak inside and take a few donuts for later. Her favorite kind of donut was chocolate, and as the girl waited she could almost taste them as she imagined it.
Moments later, the door opened and she could hear two people talking.
"Don't forget to lock up Lars." reminded the girl.
"I won't." said the boy, slightly annoyed.
The young girl heard the boy named Lars take out some keys and lock the door. Then he walked away and the girl waited until she could no longer hear his footsteps. Then, she crept around to the front of the building named the Big Donut. She took out a paper clip and easily unlocked the door. She was used to these kinds of things.
The girl then quickly slipped inside and began filling a bag from the counter with chocolate donuts. The girl didn't take more than three donuts, knowing that if she took any more one of the employees would notice something was missing. She put two in the bag and began to eat the other one, not noticing that someone was opening the door.
"I can't believe that I left my headphones in the back! This is so annoying." Lars complained as he opened the door.
Lars flipped on the lights and saw the girl. He saw the donuts in her hand and he knew she was a thief.
"What are you doing in here? I'm calling the police you thief!" Lars exclaimed as he reached for the phone, "Stay right there."
But of course the girl didn't stay right there. She put the half eaten donut in the bag with the others, pushed past Lars, and began running towards the beach.
"Come back you coward!" called Lars after her.
The girl didn't answer and kept running. She needed a place to hide for the night if the boy did call the police and went looking for her. As she was running along the beach she noticed a giant temple with a small house attached to it. Surely nobody lives there. She thought. That temple looks really old.
When the girl reached the steps and climbed them to the door, she was surprised to find that it was unlocked. The girl didn't stop to ponder it as she went straight inside. The first thing she saw was a kitchen and other normal household items. What was different was a crystal platform in the back of the room and an interesting door with a star and small gemstones decorating it. She wandered over to the platform and stood on it, wondering if it would do anything when she did. Nothing happened. Then something stirred in the bed on the upper level.
"Amethyst, is that you again? Do you have to eat this late every night?" it was a boy's voice.
Frightened, the girl backed up against the door. It began to glow when she touched the door, and before she could react she fell through. The boy simply rolled over and went back to sleep.
The young girl found herself in a small room decorated with blue crystals everywhere. It was quite beautiful, although there wasn't any furniture. The girl looked back at the door. It didn't seem like it was going to open any time soon. Making note of how the room ended with a cliff, the girl decided to sleep as far away from the door and the ledge as possible. Tired, she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
