"Master?"
The first thing I saw as I cracked my eyes open was a large pair of desperate glassy orbs of gold staring at me widely. I moaned irritadly and as I moved just the tiniest bit, the one who was looming over me swiftly backed off, tripping over something and falling onto the floor.
I sat up on my bed, stretching my arms and then rubbing my tired eyes before being welcome by a particular witch, just wearing a plain white partly buttoned pajama, kneeling down on the floor not bothering to get up as she bowed her head down apologetically.
"I'm sorry, master!" She cried, covering her head with her hands like I was going to hit her or something. I wasn't.
"I—I was worried that you weren't going to wake up soon and you usually wake up early a—and—uh--I'm sorry!"
I blinked a few times and turned to see the alarm clock on my nightstand. It was around noon. I threw the blankets off of me and walked over to C.C. who cowardly crawled back over to a corner, reiterating the words 'I'm sorry' over and over again.
I crouched down, getting a close up at her pale face which bore teary eyes of gold and not like the mischief gold of a cat that I knew days before. She was still C.C., though her memories are lost, it's still her. But her heart is slaved by the haunting memories of her childhood and I can't help but pity her.
She stares up at me in a beseeched way, but it's her who wants to give things to me when I don't want anything from her. Well, maybe there's one thing…
"Ma—master…" C.C. spoke up in the quietest voice. "I—is something wrong?"
I just realized I was staring at her for a few minutes, motionless and just staring into her eyes. I shook my head and got up.
"Nothing, um…have you made lunch for—"
"Ye—yes!" C.C. interrupted as she nodded frantically. "Your lunch is on the table, I warmed it up a few times so it didn't get cold and—"
"I mean by you."
"Huh?"
"I asked if you made lunch for yourself. I'm not hungry." I said, getting into my drawers and pulling out something casual to wear.
"O—oh…" C.C. looked down, huddling her legs to her chest and wrapping her arms around her knees. "No…it's alright. I—I don't want to be selfish to you, master."
I slipped on a pair of jeans and a sleeveless black shirt. My eyes focused on the mirror that held my reflection, and behind that reflection was C.C. who looked like a lost kitten…or a broken puppet…waiting for orders from the coldhearted master. I smirked at myself.
"C.C…."
"Y-yes!" She abruptly stood up, ready for an order but I wasn't going to give her anything cruel, instead…
"Turn around." I twirled an index finger downward, signaling for her to do a similar movement as she soon faced the wall.
I came up to her and wrapped my arms around her shoulders. She gasped lightly but then her shoulders relaxed and let me rest my head on top of hers.
"I'm not one to give out orders to you…don't believe I'll hurt you, I won't…."
I softly kissed her head.
"I will never."
C.C. kept quiet as I turned her around, seeing a blush on her cheek though she looked so upset like she was going to burst into tears. No, she looked more scared than upset like she didn't understand my words.
"Ma—master…" She started to speak but I interrupted by placing a finger to her lips.
"I don't want you to call me that." I said, quietly and slowly. "It's Lelouch…can you say that?"
I withdrew my finger and she started to mouth the words.
"Le…lou…ch…"
I nodded. "Good, and you're—"I pointed to her, and spoke out her real name, the way she wanted me to say it as she smiled sweetly. It's been awhile since I've seen her smile, and I couldn't help but smile back.
Maybe there's one thing that I want her to do…
To always smile.
