Serena
Murder
"Serena… no… please don't."
The red-haired woman lay on her back, trembling underneath the shiny, sharp-pointed dagger that aimed directly at her throat. Her hands were held weakly in front of her face, as if to form some kind of protection.
"You know I must do this," the knife-holder whispered maliciously, her voice almost like a hiss. "You have no right to be in the wizarding world, Josie. You're not… pure."
Josie snorted in disbelief, clearly repulsed. "These ideas you have... they're disgusting. I may be Muggle-born, but that doesn't make me worthless. I have just as much right to use magic as you."
Serena sneered, causing Josie to whimper loudly as she pushed the rim of the dagger right against her neck. "Oh, please. Magic will never be in your control. It can't be in the control of any pathetic Mudblood." Her voice dripped with disdain as she pronounced the word. "None of you are trustworthy."
"Who's filled your head with all this crap?" Josie exclaimed, trying to block out the searing pain in her neck. "You used to be so good, Serena… and now you're just evil."
All Serena could do was smile. "It doesn't take long for you to grasp things, Josie Weasley. Shame you're not on my side really. I would have found you… very useful."
She covered Josie's mouth with her palm forcefully, ignoring her former friend's wild, muffled screaming as she pinned her body down with her foot.
"And by the way," the blonde girl murmured, raising the knife above her head, "Don't think I'll be leaving the Gryffindor family alone. They'll get what they deserve."
Sparing the terrified girl no more time, Serena Slytherin slammed the dagger into her target.
A/N: Hi everyone, thank you for reading. :) This is something I wrote purely on a whim after an idea suddenly came to my head: what if Salazar Slytherin was a woman? This is likely to develop into a small series of one-shots revolving around this idea and will show my adaptation of what might have happened with the founders all those years ago. (obviously with the female Salazar twist)
I'd love to hear your opinions on this first piece! If I continue, I will probably write some flashbacks to explain some of the mysteries behind this one-shot, such as Josie being a Muggle-born Weasley, being friends with Serena etc.
But anyway, please leave a review if you have a moment! You have no idea how much I appreciate them! :)
