Jack's POV
Ianto! Ianto! Come back, Ianto. Feet pounding against the pavement, rain pouring all around me, soaking my shirt. No coat. I must have left it behind in my haste. Still calling his name, I stop in the middle of an unknown road, eerily quiet. The only sound is my heavy breathing, even the rain is silent.
Why had he run? Everything is so blurry. There were candles, a fire and dinner. Who's dinner I don't know. Then there was a box. A small black box sitting on the table. Then he was gone, he just ran, more like sprinted out the door.
So naturally, I followed. Only it wasn't raining before, just as I walked out the door, shouting Ianto's name. He never replied. What did I do? I cant remember!
Jack. I need you.
I froze, my chest aching. A feeling came over me...loss. I had felt it before, I just cant remember!
Jack. Don't forget me.
Somehow the words seemed familar, like someone had said them to me before.
I found my self standing outside a building. Tall and imposing. Is this where Ianto had gone? I looked around. There was no where else he could have went.
I feel like i've been here before.
Jack. I'll be gone soon.
Moving forward I slowly push open the wide doors. So silent. Inside was an office. Feeling my breath catch in my throat, I took in my surroundings. It was The office. The one where I had asked Ianto out on a date.
Why would he be here? I watched catiously as a sheet of paper drifted slowly down in front of me to rest at my feet.
Bending, I picked it up and turned it over. THE 456. Again, why is it all so familiar. The longer I looked at the sheet, the more I became aware of the growing panic settling into my hands started to shake and the sheet slowly fell to the floor.
Ianto! Where are you, Ianto? Moving through the desks I find myself standing in front of an elevator.
I press the button.
Slowly it opens and I step inside.
I press the button.
Usually in elevators music starts playing. Music dosen't start playing.
I come to large double doors and I step inside. I freeze. Ianto.
I rush over to and crouch beside him before I realise...he's not alone. Someones holding him in their arms. I look up. It's me. I'm crying, I realise. One tear slowly falls down my cheek.
It's all my fault.
More tears gather.
No, it's not.
Putting a finger to Ianto's lips.
Don't speak, save your breath.
I love you.
Jack shakes his head.
Dont.
His eyes closed. His head rolled to one side.
Ianto? Ianto! Ianto, stay with me. Ianto, stay with me please! Stay with me, stay with me please!
His eyes opened. I could feel my own tears threatning to fall, and I let them.
Don't forget me.
Swallows thickly.
Never could.
A thousand years time, You wont remember me.
Ianto has started crying now. Tears falling over his nose.
Yes I will, I promise, I will.
And I will.
His mouth opened as he took his last breath.
A look of denial passed over my grief-strickn features.
Ianto! Ianto.
He,s whispering his name now.
Dont go, dont leave me please!
Please, dont.
I grit my teeth.
...
I open my eyes. I'm in Ianto's apartment. There's something warm pressed up against my side. Ianto.
Relief washes over me, I dont know why, but I feel relief knowing that he's here, beside me.
I look over at the clock. 10:30a.m. Knowing Ianto, he'll be hungry what he wakes up.
I slip out of the bed, pull on a pair of boxers and make my way to the kitchen.
