Ma petite fille douce
(My sweet little girl)
I do not own X-Men in any way.
A/N- If you guys really like this, I'd be willing to expand it into a full story.
Remy returned to his apartment to find the door wide open. He whipped out his Bo staff and had a pack of cards ready to go. He searched his apartment until he heard soft sobbing coming from under his bed. He lifted the cover and saw a small girl huddled in the corner.
"What are you doing under there, petit un (little one)?" Remy asked her.
The girl's head perked up.
Remy could see two electric blue eyes. "Vous comprenez le français, non (You understand French, no)?" Remy asked her.
She nodded.
"Avancé. Remy ne vous blessera pas (Come on out. Remy won't hurt you", he told her.
She slowly inched out from under the bed.
"Malheureusement, Remy n'est pas très bon avec des enfants (Unfortunately, Remy isn't very good with children)", he told her.
The little girl closed her eyes and hugged Remy.
Remy's heart softened. He picked the little girl up and placed her in his bed. Remy sat on the other side and watched her sleep while quietly shuffling his cards.
In the morning, he would make the long trip to New York.
Hopefully Xavier would find a spot for her in the school.
Remy got the little girl up and swiped her some clothes from some local shops.
The girl was quiet and said nothing.
"Pourquoi vousêtes- vous tout seul (Why are you all alone)?" he asked her.
"Le papa ne m'a pas voulu (Papa didn't want me)", she said in a soft voice.
"Je ne sais pas pourquoi n'importe qui ne voudrait pas une petite fille douce comme vous (I don't know why anyone wouldn't want a sweet little girl like you)", Remy told her as the little girl blushed, "Quel est votre nom (What is your name)?"
"Belle", she answered.
Remy smiled. "Il t'adapte (It suits you)" Remy told her.
As he drove, he wondered what her power would be.
Powers normally show themselves in puberty, but Remy figured, due to the girl's abandonment, her powers would show early.
He picked up a card and charged it. His fingertips glowing purple and eyes turning red. He handed it to Belle.
The little girl took the charged card.
Normally the card would explode on impact, but instead the charge went from purple to electric blue, like Belle's eyes.
Remy smiled, seeing the girl possessed the same powers as him.
The two were definitely meant to find each other.
They arrived in New York after a few days of driving.
He picked up the sleeping girl and tucked her in close to his chest and wrapped his leather duster around her.
Ororo answered the door. "Can I help you?" she answered.
"I found a little girl. She's a mutant. Like me", he said. He pulled his leather duster back revealing the little sleeping girl, with her fist full of Remy's shirt.
She let Remy in.
Charles rolled up in his wheelchair. "Mr. LeBeau, how nice it is to see you after all these years", Charles said, "May I?" Charles had his arms held out.
Ororo reached for the child in Remy's arms.
"No!" he thundered backing away, charged cards ready to go.
"I am quite sorry", Charles said, "We meant no harm to her".
Remy calmed down and stroked Belle's hair.
Charles could see that he had developed a deep fondness for the girl. "Ororo will show you to your room", Charles said.
Remy followed her through the corridors.
When they arrived at his room, he softly detached the girl from his shirt.
She jerked awake with tears in her eyes.
"Shh, mon doux. Vous êtes sûr. Nous sommes sûrs (Shh, my sweet one. You're safe. We're safe)", Remy said kissing her forehead. He shrugged off his leather duster and wrapped her in it. He cradled her to his chest as he fell asleep.
