He's not quite sure what's happened. One minute he was happily coasting through the Time Vortex and enjoying the free lift from a rather strong wave; and now it's the next minute and everything's stopped. There is silence everywhere. If Martha were still on board she might have found him, asked what the problem was and maybe why her hair-dryer wasn't working. But she's long since gone home to finish her medical degree. At the time, he'll admit, it hurt. But he's lived on since then.
And now there's nothing. Curiously he opens the TARDIS door.
It changes his life.
-I-
She's cold. It's another day in her empty life. Months have gone by and still the world is in disarray. There are wars going on. Wars, when there's nothing to fight for.
She's walking along the street when it happens. She's just about at Nelson's Column when, without warning, it appears. From nowhere. No noise. No wind. No arrival. It's just there. She's frozen to the ground, but everyone else keeps walking. She can't. She stares, her heart breaking and living at the same time.
The door opens. It's him.
She cries.
Reunion is only ever a matter of time.
