Before Yuffie met up with Cloud and his party she was living the simple life of hunting materia to restore her home, Wutai, to it's former glory. Of course you can't hunt materia with out meeting up with a few monsters on the way.
"Man, this desert goes on for ever" Exclaimed Yuffie as her words echoed across the open plains of dry scorching hot wastelands.
The dry air had been hard on Yuffie lungs since she was used to the moist air of her homeland, but even though it wasn't easy she pressed on. As she sat down impressed with the distance she had accomplished that day, she began sing the song her mother sang to her before she had died.
"Far over the mountains where we sleep,
There is a magic that comes to life.
It lives in you, and it lives in me.
Even though we can't see it.
Can you feel it in your sleep,
Can you hear it in my voice,
Can you see it in my eyes.
Can you feel it in the earth all around you.

Yuffie stood up and as she did the ground started to shake.Sending her flying into the rock in front of her.
"Owwie!!! You big meanie come out here and fight fair coward!" Shouted Yuffie.
As she shouted this, a huge ball with tentacules and one big eye started to emerge from the ground.
"Never mind, you can go away now, I take everything that I just said back ok? Please don't hurt me."cried Yuffie.
Of course what monster would listen to a 15 year old girl who would make the perfect meal. So the fight began. Yuffie was fighting for her life while the monster on the other hand was fighting for his lunch. Blood splattered against the rocks and dirt near them. The fight continued until the evening sun started to descend in order for the moon to take it's rightful place in the sky.
"Ugh, man I don't like losing.", Yuffie said, exhausted but glad the fight was over.
As she stared down at the dead corpse in front of her, a interesting artifact caught her eye.
"Ooohhhhh, MATERIA!! Yes I found some, this is awsome!"exclaimed Yuffie, her voice echoed across plains.
Just as she was fitting the materia to her weapon the sound of a small avalanche of pebbles made her jump.
"Huh who's there?!Don't make me come and find you, or there will be hell to pay, and I'm serious!"She yelled at the top of her lungs.
As she began to walk towards the area where the sound had originated a small female child appeared. She had big hazel eyes with curly dirty blond hair coming down to her shoulder. A strange and yet beautiful vibe came from this small girl.////Chapter end////
