Last Moments
"Get out of there!" I heard her voice in my ear. Stifling a cry of disappointment, I threw the bomb into a corner of the room, got up and began running. It wasn't long before I started panting. The smoke pellets had opened. Through the haze, I noticed a door and ran to it.
Pulling on it, I grunted. "Ungh! The door-it's locked! Listen" I knew there wasn't a lot of time left. "There's not a lot of time! I'll try to find another door, but if I don't-"
"You will!" she cut me off. I manage a small smile. I have such a loyal friend. But I needed to finish.
"Just-never forget me." I think back to the only boy I ever loved. We had both lost our boys on that first mission. I just hope Zach and Grant will come home. I took a deep breath. "And If you see him again, tell him-tell him I love him." I shut off my comms after that and prepared to run to another door. But then I heard the bomb go off. It wouldn't be long now.
I settle down against the wall and allow myself one dying thought.
