Disclaimer: I do not own these characters, I do not own the show!!
Author's note: I've done this in Will's point of view whilst he and Helen are hunting down a particularly nasty abnormal – one that doesn't like Will that much!! Hehe...
He could see it. The slight twitch, the little jump, the slight layer of perspiration that had broken out across her skin creating a reflective sheen on her face. He could almost sense what she was feeling, how she was feeling. It was most definitely his gift to do this, to know what made a person tic without so much as making a sound. Words were useful, but they weren't necessary, he knew what she would say before it was even a thought within her head.
She looked nervous, she was nervous. She was afraid of what was waiting for them, in the dark. If he thought about it he would also realise that he was afraid too, but that didn't matter to him. She was his focus, he had to know how she ticked. She was an enigma to him, a conundrum that he desperately wanted to solve. He needed to know how she worked.
"Careful, I think we've got it cornered so I don't think it's going to come without a struggle" She murmured, her flashlight and gun held out in front of her as she carefully edged forward.
It was going to struggle, it wasn't going to come easily. A shame really, it would've been nice to have had one of these atrocious hunts end without him getting knocked unconscious, thrown, bitten or slashed, but then where would the fun be in a boring hunt with no bodily harm caused?
She was moving away again. She was mastering her fear, her scientific curiosity getting the better of her. Silently he cursed her as he silently stepped up beside her in just a few strides and keeping pace with her, silently of course.
"Should we come round from each side, give it no options?" he muttered, his own flashlight sweeping across the debris strewn around on the ground. Thank god he didn't have his tendency to trip over things with him, he might have made a lot of noise.
"No, it'll just be more stressed and as a result more violent." she replied her voice still a gentle murmur, it was as though there was a slight breeze whenever she spoke. "I'm going to go right, you continue on straight, then I'll get it"
"So I'm the bait then?" he half-joked, worried about the fact that he was bait for an unknown that had already tried to take his head off. He recalled something that one of his friends had said "fishing, never works out well for the bait". why did he always have to be the delectable thing that was about to be eaten or ripped to shreds' whilst she got to be the one who was safe and sound and only had to fire off one round! "Alright then." He lowered his firearm and lifted his flashlight as she silently slipped away to the right. I'm the bait, great! Next time it's her turn to be monster-chow. Oh well, might as well get this over with.
