Rhett Butler stared at Scarlett, she is crying. She had seen her cry, but this was different, she was jcrying because of him and his heart aches for it. He could stand her nasty remarks and her hateful words but never her pain. It was a different Scarlett he sees in front of him. The Scarlett he knew was strong, stubborn and has a passion for living. But now, she looks so vulnerable, so fragile. He caused her this. He broke her and it kills him. Hadn't he left, things would turned out differently. He thought his love for her was gone, but he was so wrong. Belle was right. She was a poison that he couldn't get off to his mind, but he didn't care. He started to walk towards her but bumped into something and it caused a loud thump on the ground. She jerked at the sound. Damn it, he cursed himself silently.

"Mammy, is that you?" she stand up and tried to make her way to where the sound come from, her hands guiding her. He couldn't take what he saw, so he run, like he always do. Everyone thought he was brave, he faced death many times, the civil war, duels and blockade-running, but when it comes to Scarlett, he was weak, he was a coward. Rhett never take risks when it come to his heart. He never said to her how much he love her. He was afraid, afraid that Scarlett would crush his heart, just like she did to her beaux. Just like he did to Charles and Frank, God bless their souls. Before he could stepped out of the monstrosity of the mansion, he stopped abruptly. The last time he ran, it caused him his child's life, and it nearly caused Scarlett's. No, I would not run away again. I would face it like a man. he told himself. Closing the door, he went back inside the house.

He found Scarlett sitting on the chair near the window, her eyes closed. He tried to walk towards her, careful not to make any sounds. His heart was pounding faster.

"Who's there?" her voice trembled. He could see on those emerald orbs of her that she is afraid. Her eyes are the window to her soul. Her eyes shows every emotion that she felt; anger, sadness, excitement and passion. But now he saw was fear. Scarlett was never fear of anything.

"Scarlett..." his voice trailed off. What would he say to her? He could see that eyes grown bigger as soon as he spoke.

"Rhett, is that really you?" her voice is quavering and tears starting to form in her sharp eyes. He kneel beside her and touched her face. He broke her and he will fix her, he will bring back her passion for living, the Scarlett he once knew, the ones he fell in love with.

"I am home now, darling and I promise I'll never leave you again." He spoke the truth. For a place will never be home without her in it. He felt contentment and that is all he need. She is all he needed.
