Summary: Buffy left a small something for Angel when she died.

The letter arrived in the mail before they got back. Cordelia went to check the mail box before they even entered the hotel. Angel had been squirming since they got through the portal, and she had asked him why. He had only said that it felt wrong now. It confused her, so she did the first thing she could think of.

She saw the letter in the mail was the only thing there, so she walked over to Angel.

He looked at the blood-red paper that smelt of vanilla and the smell that was so uniquely Buffy. The golden writing on the front said, simply, "My Angel."

He took it and went to the lobby, where he read it.

If I should die before you're back

As the ensouled vampire howled to the sky, his fangs gleaming, and his golden, chocolate brown eyes shedding blood tears, his legs collapsed and he was on his knees.

An hour later when he had finally stopped screaming, Lorne was out cold, and it was up to the others to take the whimpering shell of their friend up to his room.

When Cordelia went to see what was in the letter, she first noticed the drops of red that littered the paper as well.

She cried with the others.

"She better come back soon then." Cordelia told them.

Lorne, who had finally woken up, was crying. "Let's just hope that the PTBs don't give him that many chores."
