The Corporate Four
The entirety of cog existence may be coming to an end. The rate of success continues to decrease as time goes by. Who's going to stop it? Who will bring triumph to all of Cog Nation? It is unknown to the cogs. And they won't bother pondering about it, for they have already accepted their fate. But maybe there was a hidden gem within their population. Perhaps, a hero...?
Chapter 1: Prologue.
" We are cogs.
Our metallic features make us bold.
Each of our edges, sharpened to its finest.
We partake in business only toons wouldn't understand.
No time to boondoggle, oh-no, no, no.
To the toon-like foolery we say, no way!
We are cogs, built as true businessmen.
Though we have something toons don't have.
We have hard drives, toons have hearts.
Having a heart makes you feel remorse!
Having a heart makes you weaker!
We cogs are programmed to fight without mercy!
Success is our desire!
Failure is our enemy!
Slick black oil is the fuel to wisdom!
Cakes and pies are the fuel to foolishness!
The electricity circuiting within our wires is a symbol of power!
So we must continue marching on, I say!
We must revolt with an iron fist!
Piece by piece, we shall take their future!
We must cleanse this land from this toony filth!
We must show them our true potential!
Watch them cower.
Watch them tremble!
We are cogs, and we must take pride in that, I do tell you.
Don't be ashamed in yourself!
Be proud."
That was written decades ago. I'm not even exaggerating when I say that.
And since then? Our rate of success has been embarrassingly low, and it continues to decrease as the years fly by.
How shocking. How can something meant to be motivational, only cause utter failure? But was it this beautiful composition that held us back from success?
What is success anyway?
It can be interpreted in many ways depending on the individual, but what did it mean to us cogs…?
AN: It's been nearly a year since I've updated! Wow. Lately I have decided to rewrite this story. Why? Well the old version wasn't all that great. In fact, it was pretty cringe-worthy. It hurts to read it. I don't think I even had a firm grip on the plot, or what was even happening in general. So this time, I'm hoping I can improve on that. Yes, the old version still exists on here. You can read it, but just beware. This prologue is pretty short, but I promise the new chapters will be in deed lengthy! So I really hope a few of you will enjoy this story!
