As I'm sitting by the lake in the evening, reading, he sneaks up behind me, snatching the book from over my shoulder, tucking it into his robes and backing away, hands up.
"It's not like you'd ever get your nose out of it on your own," George says as I clamber up and dive for it. He catches my arms. "Come with me. Just for a bit."
I sigh in annoyance, but my heart is already racing.
We sneak through hidden passages, first to the kitchen, where a little house elf he seems to know hands off a basket of food.
Then we head back through another passage to Hogsmeade where he gets us a couple butterbeers.
We finally make our way back through the castle, climbing the stairs to the astronomy tower, but George doesn't stop there.
He clambers out the window and unto the steep sloping roof.
I hesitate, but there's something in his face that begs me to trust him, so I do.
He pulls me up after him, clutching my hand in his own as we inch along the roof until we find a flat spot to sit on and spread our banquet.
Hours pass as we sit together, laughing and talking about life. He shares his plans for a joke shop and I confess my love for my books and photography.
After a while, he lays his head in my lap. I play with his hair, and he closes his eyes, and with my heart beating in my lips, I lean down and kiss him.
He smirks. "I knew you couldn't resist my boyish charm."
I scoff and look away, and he catches my chin and gazes into my eyes, and he kisses me back.
Many moments pass with our lips and breath mingling, his hands on my neck and mine clutching his shirt.
Reluctantly we part, and he walks me back down to my dorm.
We both stall once we reach it. There's nothing I want less than to go into that room and shut the door on tonight.
George smiles gently, then leans down and brushes a sweet goodnight kiss on my forehead.
He pauses, then asks "Same time tomorrow?"
I nod.
