Drawn To Life: The End

Cinematic rewrite by Pirka

"This is it..."

"We don't have to do this, Mari..."

What do you remember about that day?

"...Yes, we do...we know we do..."

It was dark and raining...

I was wearing the coat...

"Creator...we're ready..."

There was thick, black smoke...

We were alone...

"I'm scared, Jowee..."

What were you doing when it happened?

"I know...me, too."

It all happened so fast...

Mike watched as the world around him slowly faded away. Where buildings once were, there was now nothing but white - a blank canvas. Tears welled in his eyes.

"Mari...you never told me what Wilfre showed you to make you do all this!"

"It was you, Mike..."

Creator...

"He showed me...you..."

Mike choked. "I...I don't want you to die!"

The Raposas' colors began to flake away like flower petals, scattering into the void that the town had become.

"We have to go, Mike..."

"W-where are you going?"

Tears flowed down the Raposas' faces. Issac adjusted his glasses as he waved goodbye. Even Crazy Barks was solemnly accepting his fate.

Mari's eyes glistened. "We...don't know."

"Please, don't go!"

Only Mari, Jowee and Heather were left.

"Mike...the truth is...you created us..."

Heather spoke. "We created this, Mike. This is our world. We made it so we never had to be apart..."

Jowee stepped closer to Mike, his body becoming lighter. "We have to say goodbye for now."

Mari followed Jowee's lead. "Someone out there loves you. Going away is a small price to pay to reunite you with her. We are only make-believe, Mike...but that doesn't mean we don't love you, too..."

"I don't understand!"

Jowee looked up, his face beginning to disappear. His voice faded along with his body, becoming a whisper. "I...I don't know why...but...somehow...I know we'll be together...forever..."

"That's right, Jowee..." Mari said. "...as long as we are in your heart, and you love us for real...we will be part of you...we will be...real."

Mari and Jowee held hands. "Promise that you won't forget us...rapo?"

Mike nodded. "I'll never forget you!"

"Then we will never be gone..."

The sentence trailed off as Mari and Jowee disappeared.

Now, Mike was truly alone. A hollow wind blew from all directions, chilling the tears on his face.

Suddenly, Heather ran towards him out of the mist of nothingness.

"Mike!"

"Heather? Where did you come from..."

"Mike! Come back! Please, please come back..."

The void itself began to crumble.

God...just bring back my little brother...to me...

"Come back from where? What are you talking about?!"

Mike was swallowed up.

Mike slowly opened his eyes.

He was in a hospital room. The sun streamed in through the curtains.

A young woman with wavy, blonde hair stood at the foot of the bed.

Half her face was covered by bandages.

It was Heather. The real Heather.

"H-Heather..."

She turned around. "Mike...Mike! You woke up! You came back!"

She scooped Mike up in her arms, her tears of joy falling onto the shoulder of his pajamas.

"My life was meaningless without you, brother...I missed you so, so much..."

Mike let himself fall into her tender hug.

Heather loosened her grip a little as Mike looked at the windowsill. His eyes widened.

"...somehow...I know we'll be together...forever..."

" ...if you love us for real...we will be part of you...we will be...real."

Jowee and Mari, the stuffed dolls he had won at the fair, sat there. They smiled at Mike.

And, Mike smiled back.
