I only own my own creativity
Thought of it while making dinner tonight when my hiccups would not go away. Italics = thoughts
It was after dinner on Thursday and Lily Evans was in the library studying again. However she was having a hard time concentrating though because she had the hiccups. They had been bugging her forever it seemed. Nothing she did could keep them from coming back. She had even tried looking through a few books to see if she could find a wizard cure for them. So far she was having no luck.
Maybe if I pay attention to something else they will just go away Lily thought to herself. Just when she was starting to really get into her studies James Potter came through the library doors.
Oh great, just what I need Potter to come over here and bug me. James looked around the room and spotted her studying at one of the tables, smiled and started walking towards her.
"Hey Lily," He said once he got close enough that he could talk quietly and be heard by her. He stood with his hand one one of the empty chairs at the table, "I was having trouble with the potions assignment and I figured you would be in the library studying. So I came here to ask you for help again." Lily hiccuped but did not look up at him, somewhat hoping that he would just go away or find someone else to help him. Like his good friend Remus or anyone else that was annoyed by him. James bent low and caught her eye. "Please?" Lily tried to sigh but it came out funny since she hiccuped at the same time.
"Fine I will help you for twenty minutes and that is it." James smiled and sat down in the chair next to Lily.
"That is fine." James said, "I have to meet with Peter in thirty minutes."
James showed Lily where he was having trouble and they started working together on the assignment. After a few minutes of working James spoke up about the hiccups.
"Lily, correct me if I am wrong but I count five hiccups in the last eight minutes." James grinned when Lily groaned at his observation.
"They will go away eventually." She said.
"Did you try holding your breath?" James questioned as he kept on writing down notes.
"Yes," Lily said tiredly, "and drinking water didn't work either." She said before he could suggest it, wanting him to just drop the subject and go back to work.
"I could try and scare you." James offered. Lily glared at him.
"I doubt there is anything you could do to scare me." James shrugged and went back to his work for several more minutes before talking again.
"I hearing screaming sometimes does the trick." James mentioned casually.
"I doubt that this is the place to try that one." Lily replied as she turned the page in the book she was glancing over, still could not find a cure. She looked up and spotted the clock across the way, "Your twenty minutes are almost up."
"Almost doesn't count," James countered not looking at his watch. He finished his note that he had been in the middle of and then started packing up his things. He started to stand up but then sat back down.
"Lily, one more thing before I go," Lily looked at him and before she knew what was happening James had grabbed her and kissed her, really kissed her. Lily pulled away and slapped him. James winced.
"I guess that is my cue to go," James got up and started to leave but turn around. "Hey Lily," she looked up at them with her wand ready in her hand. "Your hiccups are gone." James smirked and left to find Peter.
