Author's Notes:

Finally, time for my first ever fanfiction! I've never written anything like this before so any and all reviews and criticism is appreciated; don't worry about hurting my feelings, I can take it. I don't know if I'll continue this, and if I do it will not be on any sort of schedule, since this is kinda just something I'm doing for fun and I don't want to force it out too much. Also as a warning there are characters that will show up in this fanfic in this chapter and the ones that follow that only appear in the manga, so spoiler warning in advance. That should also tell you some big changes to the canon are happening, and they are happening early. Finally, I do not own My Hero Academia, that honour belongs to Horikoshi Kouhei. Without further ado, here is Chapter 1!

A Story Begins

Frost forming on the edge of our vision. The sound of electricity crackling in our ears. A sensation of both freezing cold and stabbing heat across our skin. The ground far below our feet. And then… nothing.

I bolted upright in my bed, shaking from the nightmare I just had. I had them at least once a month, but I could never quite remember what they were about. All I knew was that they terrified me.

I didn't know quite what it was I was afraid of, since I was doing well for myself in life. Far better than I ever expected in fact, I had gotten accepted to UA, the most prestigious hero school in the country, if not the entire world! And not only that, I was assigned to the top class they had, class 1-A of the hero course! I did feel like I was forgetting something to do with that though…

As I glanced at my alarm clock, I realized what I had been missing, and thought aloud, "Today's the first day of classes and I'm already going to run late!" I quickly took a shower and got dressed in my new uniform, not needing to mess with the icicles of hair atop my head before I head into the kitchen where I found my little sister, Eri, munching on an apple.

"Hey Eri, you ready to head to school?" Eri, despite being far younger than me, was wearing a similar uniform, and would also be attending at UA, but for very differing reasons. While I had a quirk based almost perfectly off of a combination of the quirks of our parents, Charged Ice Sculpt, Eri's quirk had mutated heavily into an entirely new quirk, Rewind. Her quirk was very destructive, and she had poor control over it, so she was taking special classes at UA to help her rein in her powers, at my prompting.

"Mhm!~" Eri replied before going back to her apple. I quickly scarfed down a breakfast of champions, also known as the tarts of pop. I took Eri's hand as she tossed the apple core into the trash and we both walked out the door to make our way to school.

"I'm glad we already live near the campus so we don't have a train to catch!" I huffed as we ran through the gates to the school that now towered before us before putting my hands on my knees to catch my breath. Only a few people were still milling about the campus, which told me that classes were most likely about to start.

I walked through the main building with purpose, having already come to the school a few days prior to find my and Eri's classrooms in advance, and dropped Eri off at her classroom with a kiss on the forehead before heading to my own class. I got to the door to Class 1-A before I just… froze.

"I'm almost late… should I just walk in? Will the other students look at me funny? How should I-" I was cut off by a girl's voice coming from behind me.

"Are you gonna go in? I can't quite walk past you where you're standing…" I turned around to see a girl with pink blush marks on her cheeks, a good bit shorter than I was, standing there.

"Oh I'm so sorry to get in your way, I just… I just…" I started before fading into silence.

"A bit nervous?" she offered, "I can walk in with you if you'd like, that way it won't be quite as awkward~"

"Oh that would help so much, thank you! My name's Inazuma by the way. Kouritori Inazuma!" I stated as I extended a hand towards her, which she took after a moment.

"Nice to meet you, Inazuma-san~ My name's Uraraka Ochako! Wanna head inside now?"

At that we wordlessly walked through the door, side by side since the frame was wide enough to allow that, to be faced with… what could only be called chaos. Most of the class was sitting at their desks, and as I looked at them, a few jumped out at me. One boy had a bird's head, complete with beak, and one of the girls was pink and had horns. Hell, I couldn't even SEE one of the girls, with only a female uniform seemingly floating in a chair to tell him that someone was there. But they were not what drew my attention.

No, the argument going on at the opposite end of the room was what caught my eye. A very tall boy in glasses seemed to be yelling at a boy with spiky blonde hair for putting his feet up on the desk, while another boy with curly green hair attempted in vain to break the two up.

As Uraraka and I made our way into the classroom, some of the class' attention shifted to us, including the boy in glasses, who crossed the room in three large strides to greet us.

"My name is Iida Tenya, Soumei Private School, and you two are?" he asked and took each of our hands quite stiffly as we gave him our own names before continuing, "You know, you two should try to be more punctual! At a school such as UA, being on time is essential!"

"Sorry, I had to take my little sister to her class first, so I wasn't able to make it here early," I responded, a bit flummoxed by the sheer presence of Iida-san.

"Ah, I apologize, you seem to have a legitimate reason for your tardiness!" Iida-san exclaimed while chopping the air with his arm for some reason, "Just try to make sure you are here faster next time!"

I thought that as odd as Iida-san might be, he seemed to have a solid head on his shoulders. After our introductions, we all made their way to our seats and started chatting amongst ourselves.

No sooner had we sat down, however, than a man in a huge yellow sleeping bag appeared out of nowhere, startling all of us.

"Took you all long enough to settle down, you better be taking this hero course seriously or I'll expel you right here and now. Now get into your gym uniforms, we're taking a physical test on the training field in 10 minutes." With that, he hopped off before anyone could say a word.

The first to react was a boy with spiky red hair.

"Who the heck was that? He didn't seem very manly, just… tired… Think he was our teacher?" Everyone else seemed to agree.

"Well, we better get going then, if we have something to do!" I offered, and at that the class left to get dressed so they could head out to the field.

As we made our way to the training field, Uraraka-san fell into step next to me and said, "So we're just going straight to training, huh? I wonder what happened to the opening ceremony or introductions?"

"I assume they simply skipped them since those are kinda outdated these days," I replied.

"You guessed right," the man in the sleeping bag said, having seemingly appeared next to us from thin air, startling us.

"Umm Sensei, where do you keep appearing from? It's like you materialize from nothing!" Uraraka-san asked the teacher.

"Trade secret. Also, you will refer to me as Aizawa-sensei," he replied, making sure all the students heard that last bit right as they made it to the training field.

Aizawa-sensei then explained what we would be doing there. We were going to be taking the same physical tests they had taken during middle school, but this time we were allowed to use our quirks. To demonstrate, he had the spiky blonde, whose name was apparently Bakugou Katsuki, do the softball throw, and he threw it over 700 metres! Aizawa-sensei finished by explaining that whoever did the worst total at all the tests would be expelled on the spot.

"Wait is that even allowed?!" the small boy with the purple spheres on his head exclaimed with fear.

"Yes it most certainly is, so you better do your best," Aizawa-sensei responded, firing everyone up to not be that unfortunate soul in last place.

Unfortunately, most of the tests we took were not ones that I could use my quirk to assist myself with, and the few that did only let me use half of it. For the 50 metre dash, I surprised the other students by, similarly to another boy I later learned was named Todoroki Shoto, used ice to skate to the finish line. Unlike Todoroki-san, however, I made a snowboard fashioned from blue ice to slide on instead of just spraying ice on the track.

The only other test I could use my quirk for was the softball throw, where I fashioned a launcher onto the end of my arm to hurl the ball farther than Bakugou-kun could (much to the rage of the explosive character), although even I couldn't match Uraraka-san's score of INFINITY as she sent the ball literally into orbit with her quirk! I still couldn't believe that had even happened! Aizawa-sensei got upset at the curly green haired boy, Midoriya Izuku, because he almost hurt himself using his quirk. Aizawa actually stepped out of his sleeping bag then to stop Midoriya-san from using his quirk by erasing it, revealing he was actually the Pro Hero Eraserhead, before letting Midoriya-kun continue with the stipulation that he was not allowed to disable himself.

In between each of their turns, the students would talk among themselves, during which I introduced myself to each of my classmates. I particularly felt like I made friends with Asui Tsuyu, who insisted I call her Tsu-chan, as that's what all her friends called her. On the other end of the spectrum, Bakugou-kun refused to shake hands with a 'filthy extra,' as he put it, which only made me all the more determined to make him my friend, too.

By the time we all finished with our tests, I was confident I had not placed last but knew I also wasn't going to be anywhere near the top of the class, considering that my quirk was only applicable for a couple of the tests. I was pleasantly surprised to place 12th, with Mineta-san placing in last. This realization didn't bother me as much as it might have if it was anyone else in last since Mineta-san had tried to converse with me about the size of the ladies' busts and seemed to be quite a pervert.

"By the way, I lied. None of you are going to be expelled today," Aizawa-sensei announced from back within his sleeping bag, to the surprise of most and the tears of relief from Mineta-san. "That was simply a part of the test to see how you would perform under pressure. However, if I do find any of you to be slacking at any point this year, I still reserve the right to expel you as I see fit. Class is dismissed."

"How was your classes today, Eri?~" I asked as I collected her from her classroom.

"It was really fun! There aren't a lot of kids in the class, but the teacher was really nice!~" she replied, giggling.

"Well I'm glad you enjoyed yourself!"

As we started to head home, a voice called out my name, followed by a uniform jogging up to walk beside us.

"Ah, hey Hagakure-san, did you need something?"

"Not really, my house is just this way too, and I thought we could walk together!" Hagakure-san responded cheerfully right before noticing Eri walking in step with him. "Who's this? Is this your little sister you mentioned in class this morning? Ohmigosh she's so cute!~" she gushed as Eri smiled shyly while hiding behind my leg.

"Yeah, Eri here is my sister, but she's a bit shy around new people. I'm sure she'll warm up to you given time though!"

After that, we walked together for a while, Hagakure-san talking about our new classmates and asking Eri about how her day was, with quiet but chipper replies. Soon enough though, we reached the splitting point.

"Okay, I have to turn here, so I'll see you tomorrow Inazuma-san!"

"Oh, are you sure you don't want us to walk you the rest of the way home? It's no trouble if you'd like!" I offered.

Hagakure-san gratefully declined, "Thanks, but my house is only a block away, and I don't want to make your commute any longer! Thanks for talking to me on the way home though! Maybe I'll see you tomorrow morning on the way in?"

"Sure, I'd love to walk with you on the way there tomorrow!"

At that, we said our goodbyes and we left Hagakure-san to make her own way home. As soon as we made it to their own house, Eri ran off to go get a snack and play in her room, and I resigned myself to the couch to relax.

Wow, over 2K words, that's more than anything else I've ever written, period! I actually had a lot of fun writing this so make sure to send your reviews and I'll feature my responses at the beginning of the next chapter! Thanks for reading!
