A/N a short Carrie one shot that popped into my head whilst struggling with a couple of chapters on my Brody fic. Carrie is not happy. Set sometime in season 3. Caution for a lot of swearing.
On the whole, she loves her job. However, there are times when she wonders what the actual fuck and, it's not necessarily the job that makes her feel that way, but rather people. People are ignorant, lazy, ungrateful and judgemental.
Naturally, the Langley bombing is centre of attention. She knows people are right to be angry. However, the righteous indignation from the horrible, gossiping, ignorant fucks she had the pleasure of standing behind in a queue might have been laughable, if the situation were not so serious. Are people capable of thinking something other than a piece of shit they read in a paper, or heard some agenda driven wanker, on the news say? Would it fucking kill them not to be so judgemental about a job they understand fuck all about?
Staring out at that hole in the ground, she can feel herself getting agitated. She really would like to hit something. There it sits untouched, a reminder, a punishment apparently. Fuck whatever arsehole politician decided that.
They missed something. She knows that and, much like the medical profession, mistakes really can't be afforded at the CIA, but since when did that mean people can't be considerate and compassionate? They have all lost friends and colleagues and they are all hurting. They don't need salt rubbed in the wound.
That hole is an insult to her fallen colleagues and their families. How fucking dare they be so disrespectful to people, who every day of their lives, gave up something for their Country. They did choose this job yes, and they chose it to make a difference, chose it to keep their Country and the people in it safe. They missed family birthdays, day trips, soccer games, christenings, weddings, Christmas, so that the people with "normal" lives could safely do all of those things. They deserve respect, not a fucking hole in the ground.
She doesn't like the word hole anymore.
