A/N: Heh. I accidently deleted this story. I never would have noticed, but shoppingal87 reminded me, so here it is again. This is a very AU fic, but I felt like writing it. And I know Meredith doesn't actually have an eating disorder, but she looks like she has one, so it got my brain rolling. Enjoy!
Perfect
Her head pounds.
It takes every ounce of strength in her body to get up.
Get out of bed.
Everything swims.
She stumbles.
Catches herself on the door.
Her stomach grumbles.
An angry reminder.
But she won't give in.
She can't.
Instead, she weaves her way to the bathroom.
Clutching at the wall for support.
She drinks from the sink.
Water fills her stomach.
But it's only temporary.
She knows the pain will be back soon.
The gnawing sensation.
But she can't give in to it.
She knows what will happen.
One bite, and then two.
And then she'll eat and eat.
And never stop.
She knows.
Because it haunts her dreams.
She dreams of cake and ice cream and pie.
In her dreams, she eats and eats and she can't stop.
And her waist grows and grows and she can't stop that, either.
She wakes up terrified, every time.
Terrified and nauseated.
And determined.
Determined that she will not give in.
Because she has to be beautiful.
Pain is beauty, right?
Her hipbones jut out and still she does not eat.
Her arms are stick thin.
Her legs are like pencils.
But still, it's not enough.
It's never enough.
So she won't give in.
She can't.
But God, she's so damn hungry.
And weak.
It's as if all her energy has been drained.
She slides to the floor.
She can't get back up.
She's hungry.
And tired.
So tired.
She longs for the warmth of her sheets.
But she just can't seem to make her limbs obey her.
She could give in.
Make this feeling go away.
But she wants to be perfect.
She needs it.
And so, she curls up on the tile.
Draws her knees to her chest.
And tries to ignore the pain in her stomach.
The way her arms and legs shake.
Because she can't give in.
She has to be perfect.
