This plot wouldn't stop bugging me so here's a little fic.

Disclaimer: I don't own the TMNT. Green Day owns "Good Riddance (Time of your Life)". If you like the song, the credit goes to Green Day and you should check the song out.

Please, don't chase me about with pitch forks and torches because I used song lyrics.

Master Splinter walked out of the dojo after a long session of meditation. It had been another normal day. Deciding whether to retire to his room or fetch himself another cup of tea, he stopped when he saw his hot headed son Raphael. He smiled when Raphael bent down to pick up an acoustic guitar and started playing it. So on that cue, Michelangelo started to sing.

"Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road.

Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go.

So make the best of this test, and don't ask why.

It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.

I hope you had the time of your life."

Donatello walked into the room to join his brothers. He carried with him a violin and joined in with it right along with the song.

"So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind.

Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time.

Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial.

For what it's worth, it was worth all the while."

Splinter felt his eyes dampen, and he couldn't help but agree with this song. One should realize that life is worth it, always. He realized it. He wouldn't give up raising his sons for anything. He was thankful for the riches life bestowed upon himself and the joys his dear sons showered on him.

"It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.

I hope you had the time of your life."

Leonardo started singing with Michelangelo. Their voices joined in perfect harmony creating something beautiful and just right. Master Splinter marveled to himself about what teamwork his sons showed in this moment.

"It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.

I hope you had the time of your life."

Splinter was proud of them. He was always proud of them. But as proud of them he was, he was ashamed that he hadn't known that his sons were so talented. Michelangelo, he of course knew, but he hadn't known that Raphael could play such a mellow song or Donatello could play the violin. What surprised him the most was Leonardo's singing. He wouldn't have even guessed that his eldest son sang. He was appreciative that he witnessed this.

"It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.

I hope you had the time of your life."

Splinter loved his sons more then anything. In spite of the hard road ahead of them, he prayed that they would find happiness and balance. He wished that they would eventually have a son of their own to love, nurture, and guide. He sighed and looked at his sons with pride. It gave him sorrow that soon he would be leaving his sons for good. The end of his life was approaching, but that as many other things that was unavoidable.

Master Splinter with his soft voice and tearful eyes sang to himself.

"I hope you had the time of your life."

Splinter in peace and more prosperity then most could ever hope to achieve spent his last evening with pride. For it is not wealth that makes you, but something of an entirely different nature: love for he truly did think it was worth all the while, and he hoped that his sons would have the time of their lives.

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.

I hope you had the time of your life.
