Disclaimer: I don't own FMA but I do have an awesome Envy Halloween costume.

A/N: I know I haven't written in a long time but I'm trying to get back into it. I had a scrap of paper in Spanish class that I was doodling on when I thought this up. It took a total of ten minutes to write, no joke. I hope you enjoy!

Darkness… all he could see was darkness… How long he had been there, he didn't know. Then, the gate opened. He took the chance and climbed out. Out into the golden light. As he ran, he looked to see who would be so foolish as to open the gate. He saw blue eyes staring back at him with tears rolling down the face. A face and body that was already being taken by his fellow gate children. He faintly recognized the girl as he watched her be pulled towards the gate. He knew he should feel some emotion but he didn't know how. Suddenly, his surroundings changed. The gate and golden light were gone. He sat up. Somehow he had come to this new place. But… who was he? Memories… if that's what they were, were faint and distant like a firefly across a meadow. He looked down. The stone floor was cold. Nearby was a puddle of water. Unsteadily, he walked towards it and collapsed on the edge. He was weak. Staring at the pool of water, he saw his reflection. A little past shoulder length golden hair fell around him. Deep amber eyes stared back at him. All along his body were red markings… strange tattoos that looked foreign and familiar at the same time. One tattoo in particular stood out. A dragon eating its own tail with a star in the center. He knew he had seen it somewhere in another life. Or maybe it was his imagination. He also wore black. One fingerless black glove went up an arm to the shoulder. On the other side it only went up to his forearm. He felt the cold air again and shivered. "Well, what do we have here?" A cat-like voice called out from the dark. He looked up. Another person was in the room. If you could call them a person. He wore an almost identical outfit except shorter gloves and no tattoos. A black headband with a red triangle held up a forest of green spiky hair. "Who are you?" The blond youth managed to ask. "Why, your new sibling O-chibi-san. What? Don't you remember?" "Remember… What?" The green-haired boy smiled cruelly. "Nothing. Now you're one of us so it doesn't matter. Welcome brother. But you need a name. I think pride will do nicely." Pride… he thought. So that's who I am. Pride stood up. "Yes brother, I am Pride."
