Jack O'Neill sighed in frustration. "Daniel, are we done? I think you have had enough time."
Daniel Jackson merely glanced back from surveying the room and the people moving around. He had a drink, but he had not touched it in a while. With Daniel's tolerance, that was probably a good thing anyway. Daniel smiled.
"We can't leave yet Jack. Don't you enjoying watching the people?" he asked.
Jack harrumphed as he raised his glass to sip his beer. "Not everyone enjoys watching 'society' Daniel." He groused.
Jack glance over at the other member of SG1 sitting at the table. Of course, Teal'c showed no signs of impatience, no signs of irritation at the long night ahead.
"So 'T', you are ready to leave, right?" Jack asked.
Teal'c merely raised an eyebrow. "Are you not enjoying watching the social interactions of the people O'Neill?"
Jack sighed again. Of course Teal'c would not mind. He had the patience of Job, and people watching seemed to amuse him. It probably did not help that several women seemed to give more than a passing interest in both Teal'c and Daniel.
After another ten minutes, Jack had had enough. He moved to get up.
"Guys, I am done. I am headed back. I am going to check on Carter, and then hopefully, get some rest."
Both Teal'c and Daniel moved to block his escape.
"Jack, you can't!"
"O'Neill, you must remain."
Jack looked at both of this friends in exasperation. "Guys, seriously, what is wrong with checking in?"
Both Daniel and Teal'c looked at each other then back at Jack.
"Jack, you know why. It's tradition. You cannot see the bride before the wedding."
Jack sighed and sat back down and glared at his friends as a group of women walked by, one of them smiling at Daniel. Save the world countless times, battle false gods and replicators and who knows what else and here he was, hamstrung by 'tradition'. He sighed again. There certainly was a cliché here somewhere.
