A/N Here is a companion piece to Deeper Into Temptation. It's an original poem, giving you a glimpse of the way Edward and Bella spend the week in New York. I loved writing it, it's based on my memories of that city. - I'm originally a NYC girl.
Music: You grew up riding the subways, up in Harlem down on Broadway... (from the song New York City Girl, by Odyssey. Look it up on YouTube, you won't be sorry.)
New York City Summer
Hot steel on steel smell of the subway,
I walk up, up
Outside, hot pavement, shimmering
Hard asphalt softens slightly under the blazing, melting rays
Of a mid-July heat wave
Up, up to our eyrie
Where we meet and meld
After
We stay up here, above the fray
Wrapped in cool crumpled white sheets
Where a too small fan lends just enough breeze for mere seconds and moves on its way
Billowing the curtains, exposing a sliver of New York blue sky
The smell of your sweat is spicy sexy sweet
Conjuring memories of our recent abandon
I yearn and
You reach for me again
