AN/ This is my first That 70's show fanfic. This is going on in 1984.
I had already post the first chapter but I realize that it wasn't the good version so heres the good one... they aren't that much of change but still a few important thing were left out... I hope this time someone will tell me what he thinks because there's no need in doing a story if no one read it.
For the first time in three years he sat at a bar and ask for a beer. Why? Because of had happen to him a few minutes ago.
Steven Hyde was sitting on the back of a cab heading home when the driver lose the signal of the jazz radio he had been listening to and it switch to another one. A rock'n'roll radio, he immediately recognised the song that was playing: Communication Breakdown by Led Zeppelin.
He could still remember the first time he heard it, he was 9 waiting for he's mom out of the school when he heard it, it had felt like a revelation that's when rock became a part of him. And when he listens to it that time he realized that he hadn't listen to rock music in year. He hadn't smoke weed or drink for ages. He hadn't imagined government conspiracy in centuries. When was the last time he had sex? What have he been doing? He had been working. Nothing else. As realize that he asked the driver to stop, he paid him and went right the first bar he found.
And now he was staring at his beer wondering how the could it have happened. How could a rebel as him have become a part of the society? What had happened to him? He use to spend his day listens to music and sailing it: the perfect life. Then why had him giving that up? And What for? He now owned six music stores and had 23 employees. He had became what he hated the most, the boss. When was the last time he had tried to pick up girls with Kelso? Argue with Donna? Made fun of Fez with Eric? Had 'talk' with Leo? He couldn't remember better than he could the last time he had listens to good old rock. Maybe it was better this way. After all now he was making his self quite a lot of money. How could he think of that as a good thing! He was Steven Hyde for god sake!
Okay more seriously he was still listening to rock'n'roll in the 70's. What happened after New Year? Eric and Donna got back together. Before the end of January Fez find a job in Chicago so him and Jacky move out there and Hyde in there old apartment. During the month that follow some guy came to his music store and said it was awesome and that he would be even more awesome to have one in he's town. Steven asked him where it was and a few weeks later he open a second store there. Eric and Donna move to Chicago too, Hyde opened another store. They all say he should come to Chicago too so he did. After that Fez and Jacky had a huge fight they broke up and he never saw Jacky ever after, from what he new no one else had seen her ever since. Every body was busy with there life they didn't really get to see each other any more, or maybe it was just him that was to busy buying and running stores. But what happened? What could have push him to let go of rock and say welcome to capitalism? He knew what. In the end of the year 1980, the 19th of november to be exact, that day Led Zepplin broke up... And now here was drinking in a small town a few miles from Chicago.
Steven drank his beer on one sip and sigh. He could accept he had become what he was but he also didn't know what to do about it. Maybe he shouldn't do anything and accept he had become an active member of society. The thought didn't made him fell good and if there one thing he remember from his former self it was that in that kind of case he needed a beer. Before he could ask one, a pint magically papered in front of him.
"Wanna drink?" ask a rusty voice.
Hyde looked up to see a young woman holding it with a smirk on her face. She wasn't quite tall but she sure was hot. She had green messy hair it looked a bit like Tina Turner but in way smaller. She was wearing big sun glasses, a black unload with the sleeve down her shoulder, skinny dark jeans and black boots. Her nails were long and paint in black. But the thing that had catch Hyde attention the most was the part of a tiger tattoo that appeared on her left breast.
"I sure heed one" he said taking the pint.
She sat next to him cross leg, put her elbow on the counter and rest her cheek on her fist. "So" she said "What is guy in such fancy cloth is doing down here?"
Fancy cloth. Yeah now he was wearing suit and even tie. He really had change. What was doing here? Should he explain her, a perfect stranger he had literally just met? No he shouldn't but there was something he didn't know what that made him trust the girl.
So he told her.
He told her everything, every single detail. And weirdest thing she listen.
"… And so now I don't what to do."
All the feature of her face showed sadness. She looked away and seemed to be thinking. He was waiting for her answer as if it was the most import thing in the world. It was actually the most important thing in his world at the moment.
She turned back to him smiling. "Do you want to come back in the world of sex, drug and rock'n'roll?"
"Hell yeah." She chuckle at his answer and got up. He followed her out.
In her bed, a young woman with green hair and tiger tattoo was staring at her wall. What had she done last night? Of course she didn't meant that literally, she hadn't drink that much. Why? Did she decided to take care of him?! It could only end badly and she knew it.
But still when she saw him, him wearing a suit, she just… she just couldn't simply stand there and watch. She had to know what the hell was going one. How could he possibly be a b-busi-businessman? So she went to him. Of course she didn't tell him who she was… But she came to him and she asked him what he was doing here. She told her self she would simply ask and go. But hearing that he really was like that, it just broke her heart. She couldn't let him throw his life away like that she had to bring him back in rock direction.
She just had to make sure of three things. One succeeds. Two that he doesn't grow to attach to her. Three that he'll never find out her identity. She sighed.
Anyway it was time to get up if she didn't want to be late at work. She took her sunglasses and went out of her room.
When Hyde opened his eyes this morning he felt something he hadn't in quite a time. He felt himself and god it felt good. He also had a freaking headache but heck hangover was a natural part of him.
He took all his strength to sit up on whatever he had slept on. Opening his eyes he found out it was a sofa. He rube his eyes and look around him. He was in an open kitchen decorate in different shades of white and grey with two doors and a big window on the wall on his right. Apart from three posters they weren't any real decoration. There were a few items lying around, they seemed to be singles, nail polish, metal jewels, tools and … condom.
This still didn't told him where he was and he simply hoped that the girl with a tiger tattoo was somewhere around. He felt a bit cold, he place his arm around him self and felt like something was gone. He look down at himself and notice his shirt was gone. He seriously hoped she was around.
To answer his pray one of the door opened letting showed the young woman with green hair and big sunglasses. She was wearing a black short sleeve over side T-shirt falling on her left shoulder showing her bra strap and a part of her tattoo.
"Hi" she said "Want coffee?"
"Wouldn't hurt."
She walk to the kitchen counter, she lower and took a small saucepan. She turned around to the kitchen sink and filled the saucepan with water. She did two steps on the right and lights the gas cooker then put the saucepan on the fire. She opened the cupboard in front of took out two white mug and put them on the counter. She took the two metal cylindrical boxes that were on the end of the counter lift them both to his eyes. On one was written 'cafe' on the other 'zucherro'.
She tilt the 'café' one and said "coffee" she tilt the 'zucherro' one "sugar" She put them both on the table "I don't like sugar. You know what to do next." She leaved the room.
Hyde made his way behind the counter, he heard water running and guessed that she was taking a shower. He smelled himself. He would definitely need one too.
When the water was finally hot he put two spoon of coffee in the mugs and filled them with water. He put a teaspoon of sugar in one mug and start drinking.
A few minutes later the girl with the tiger tattoo come back in fully dress pretty much the same way the previous night excepted for her top that was now a black tank top. She took her mug and start drinking it. They were something familiar about her but couldn't put his hand on it.
"You should quit your job " she said
"What?"
"It's the reason why you've lost your soul so you should quit it."
Hyde wasn't sure what to answer, she was right but he needed his job.
"You wanna be a slave of the government or a freeman?"
If she put it that way… "Yeah, I'll quit."
"Good" she said putting her cup down. "Now I need to go to work."
So he had to quit his job but her's was okay?
"Which is?" he asked
"Garage mechanic" 'yeah not the same' he thought.
She was opening the front door when he realize.
"Hey. Wait."
"What?"
"My name is Steven Hyde. You are?"
'Of course he wants my name, good thing I've change it' "Anna Mae Krieger" 'former Jacky Burkhart.'
