The Return of Morgana
It was a bright sunny day at Camelot. Merchants sold their wares in the town market, servants went about their chores and duties in the castle, Arthur and his knights trained on the field. King Uther sat in his office going over daily kingly duties with his advisors.
Suddenly, the sky began to darken with gray clouds over the castle and the sound of thunder was heard. This happened so quickly that everyone stopped and looked up. In a flash of lighting, a woman in emerald green appeared on a balcony above the castle overlooking the courtyard. Her dress and hair billowed as it caught the stiff wind that had kicked up. Then she spoke.
"Hear me, people of Camelot," she said in an unnaturally loud resonating voice. "I am the Lady Morgana, ward of the king. For too long has magic been kept from this kingdom. For too long have good people suffered under this twisted law. I say, no more! The reign of Uther Pendragon ends today!"
To drive her point home, Morgana threw a bold of lightning into the courtyard striking the stone-paved ground. No one was injured, but a scorched hole was left in the courtyard.
Morgana continued, "From this day, in place of a king, Camelot will have a queen! And I shall not be dark, but beautiful and terrible as the dawn! Treacherous as the sea! Stronger than the foundations of the earth! All shall love me, and despair!"
From a window in Prince Arthur's room, Merlin watched. "That's my cue," he said to himself and went outside to do battle with the witch.
