Lily was James-watching. Most would call this stalking, but she was not a stalker. Why won't he ask me out? He's been doing it nonstop for three bloody years and as soon as I finally sort out my feelings he's given up on me.

She looked rather pathetic, sitting in the corner of the library, watching James do his homework. At least I didn't join the fan club. He ruffled his messy hair and her heart beat faster. But with the way I'm acting I might as well head their meetings.

Slamming her head into the table seemed like the less mortifying option compared to this pathetic task.

"Why don't you just pop out binoculars, Evans?" Sirius asked as he and Remus sat at her table. "It would be much less obvious compared to your staring."

She blushed a deep maroon. "Is it really that noticeable?"

"I'm surprised you haven't burned a hole in his head." Remus replied. Suddenly slamming her head into the desk seemed tempting.

The charms book was still open in front of her, but the page number was irrelevant, it was only prop for her scheme to watch James Potter's every move.

"You're going mad." Sirius told her. "First you crush him and now you can't take your eyes off of him; make up your mind."

I probably won't get too injured by the desk...

"Well, I think I'll gather up some of that Gryffindor courage that I'm supposed to have."

Lily scraped back her chair and began the agonizingly slow walk across the library to the table James was seated at. His long fingers were tapping some sort of rhythm across the wood and he was looking at the parchment with an utterly bored expression.

He jumped in his seat when Lily sat across from him. "Lily, what are you doing here?"

"I think the better question is, what are you doing? You do realize this is the library, right?" She grinned at his sarcastic expression.

"Really?" He looked around in faux wonder. "I thought I was drowning at the bottom of the lake." Then she was laughing and so was he, rather loudly.

"Oh, merlin!" Lily said angrily. "Banned for the rest of the week? How will I study for NEWTS?" She groaned at James's smug expression. "It's your fault if I fail."

"Lily Evans, you've never failed anything." Then he seemed to realize something. "Aside from your apparation test."

"It wasn't my fault! I swear, they wanted me to fail. They kept forcing me to do stupid tasks."

"Like what? Actually apparating properly?" She rolled her eyes and they began walking back to Gryffindor tower.

It wasn't a quiet walk. James continued poking fun at Lily's lack of apparating skills while she bit her tongue every time she wanted to say something about him asking her out.

Soon enough they were in the common room and Lily had an idea.

As James began walking to the boy's dormitory she called, "Hey, Potter! You, me, hogsmeade. What do you say?"

He whipped his head back so quickly that it made her dizzy. He was smirking at her. "Evans, I'd rather go with the giant squid!" James then proceeded to stomp angrily to his dorm, leaving Lily flustered. She was sure he would say yes, but now he was making a joke out of it.

But the next day he was asking her and she was saying yes.

I hope you liked it :)
